Topic: Who uses potions?

Just curious.

I now have alchemy at 150 and I've yet to sell a thing. I would think that healing potions, mana potions, and rejuvination potions, being things that could seriously save your ass, would be more popular.

Is it just because the player economy is so new? Or are potions just not popular for some reason?

Potions make it very easy to solo.

In addition, people at high levels routinely blow wads to buy lots of potions.

I use the potions that Josh makes for me. We really like the sprint potion, and I love the wis one. Not to mention healing ones.

I use them, and would buy from the AH if there were any good ones. So far I've only seen regular or lower.

If its for a Horde character, put this potion up for sale or advertise it in Hillsbrad. Its used in a popular quest there and will sell well. Elixir of Defense is also a popular one for leathworkers. Actually, most potions that are used in quests/recipes will sell pretty well. Once you get 225 Alchemy, players will kiss your feet to get you to transmute mithril to truesilver.

It seems like all the money making stuff is high high HIGH level :\

I just got the strong troll's blood potion though. We'll see how that goes.

I'm making mass cash off of stacks of copper bars right now. I don't know WHY people are willing to shell out 25s or more a stack of the most readily aqquired metal in the game, but they are. I made an easy 3g over two days at level 11 just getting copper and smelting it. I don't even use it for my own engineering.

I buy em. They're always useful to me as a get-me-out-trouble method.
And I seem to find myself in trouble a lot.

Same here. Mining is by far my favorite skill, and Blacksmithing is just kind of an aside for me.

I'd buy em from people, but I can pay 3 silver for the healing potion in duskwood.

Lower level people cant afford to buy items that dont have a lasting benefit, healing potions and mana potions are still very nice though.

I used em, but Monica makes everything for me.

Im kinda the Leatherworking Bitch. I think Taylen has decent alchemy as well, so will probably hit him up sometime too.

Of course these are all friends I play with and such, so I never make money off them. Kat got an entire new wardrobe from me for free, and Gadani got some harsh Shoulderpads. So as long as its within the group, I've never made any money off my skill. In fact, I've never really tried to sell to players much either. Mostly because, being a NE Hunter, everyone who is around me is usually a Leatherworker as well. I could probably make more money off my skinning than I could my leatherworking.

Alchemists seem way more rare, so luckily thiere is Taylen and Monica too mooch off of. But without them, when I had the money, I'd definitely buy potions and the like.

And yeah, Leatherworkers are reliant on Alchemists past 120 Leatheworking. We need Potions of Agility, and Elixirs of Defence, and such. It sucks.

I like to have healing potions around for those "Oh shit!" occasions. Haven't really used many others though. WIll have a readily available source through my guild once they level up a bit.

If you look at thottbot.com, you'll notice that a lot of the higher end recipies (120-125+) require magical components, like iridecent pearls, elixirs, rarefuckingsuperultraneverdropsinabillionyears spider's silk... etc.

The real healing potions, that require level 12 sell well enough by the stack. Just make sure you put a good buyout price on them, no one wants to wait on their potions. Oddly enough I have not had much luck selling mana potions so far. Trolls blood hardly sells, people don't do the math on them to fogure out they actually help. Defense potions sell well enough though.

Should top 150 alchemy tonight, have a bunch of crap in the bank waiting to hit 20 so i can go master alchemist.

Am I the only one who really thinks the Undead Apothecaries are funny in their own little morbid ways?

Not really. What I do find funny is the Apothecary guy in Crossroads. Any non-undead that does that quest is helping to kill themselves in the long run since the apothecary's huge mission is making the next plague.

I so did enjoy obliterating the humans of hillsbrad for that whole line.

Though, the spider ichor was a pain in the ass.

I love skinning. I hit 300 in it today and have been able to sell heavy leather for 6s-8s per piece, and thick leather for 10s-12s a piece.

Also, transmuting mithril to truesilver isn't very useful. It has a cooldown of 48 hours.

Technically, that's phase three.

Phase one: Create plague to wipe out humanity.

Phase two: Create plague to wipe out the rest of the Alliance.

Phase three: Create plague to kill Horde.

Phase four: Kill the Scourge.

What's next? Sylvanas hasn't thought that far out ahead, what with being concerned with killing everything else.

I'm pretty sure your phase four is actually phase one.

Also, I'm pretty sure the "New Plague" is one that affects the scourge.

Good thing is, as soon as Sylvanas came up with a way to wipe out Humanity, Thrall would be ready to kick the Undead out of the Horde, and stop some zombies.

Phase 2 and 3 will never exist, and humanity would probably survive, just not have very large numbers.

And I'm also with Maradon, the Undead are looking to wipe out the Scourge first, then everyone else.

Well, its an easy way to get truesivler. Truesilver is a bitch to get otherwise. It requires an incredibly high mining and is a rare pop in place of mithril veins. Not something you could make all your money on, but once more crafters get in the truesilver range you could easily sell one truesilver bar for several gold.

I have an alchemy of around 198.. perhaps I should start putting my awesome elixirs up on auction. So far I have just been donating them to leather workers so they can make me stuff. I need to find some gravemoss so that I can start brewing shadow oil. I know LOTS of leatherworkers are dying for some shadow oil.

Sylvanas' real goal is to ultimately regain life. All of her dialog supports this.
