Flagship teams never permanently disappear. Both Marvel's Avengers and DC's JLA have gone through about 50 incarnations each (at least), and have had over a hundred heroes in their ranks at one time or another.

"Avengers Disassembled" and the entire "Disassembled" story line (from what I hear it's crap anyways but I haven't been able to follow it due to lack of income), is just a way for Marvel to have the standard Company Wide crossover to move all the heroes into position to go in the direction they want the heroes to be going for the future.

The Avengers themselves are not finished; there is a new creative team coming in within a few issues that will do the standard "All New! All Different!" team setup. From what little I've heard there are some big guns in there (including Sentry) but the core guys (Capt, Iron Man, Thor) will be kept to their own books from now on for now.

I want my Hawkeye back =(

And that just seems weird...ever since Cap joined the Avengers when he was un-frozen...he's been like, the Figurehead. That's what Cap does, is yell "Avengers Assemble!"

I wouldn't worry too much about Hawkeye staying dead. This is the Marvel universe where many of the heroes and villains are collecting Frequent Dier points. ( 5 more deaths and Jean Gray can afford a free trip to Tartarus! )

And there have been other times when the Avengers haven't had Captain America in charge; though the only one I can recall off hand was the team during "The Crossing" which was just before the Onslaught saga and the launch of Heroes Reborn. That team was being lead by The Wasp I believe; it was the Leather Jacket period of the Avengers.

From the response I've read with this story line it's going over like a lead brick with the fans, so most of it will probably be undone by the end of next year or so.

OP, check your PM box.

As for the "New Avengers", be on the lookout for a team that includes the following people:

Captian America
Spider Man
Spider Woman (Jessica Drew version)
Luke Cage
Wolverine

and a few others.

The Avengers are not dead. They're being slowly tortured to death, so very slowly.

I believe in the existance of magic, not because I have seen proof of its existance, but because I refuse to live in a world where it does not exist.
