You went Freeport right? (Its what most of us on AB are)
That leaves you with Wizard, Warlock, Coercer(Addy's Class), and Necromancer. I say go with one of the Sorceror classes (Wizard/Warlock) but really, play what you enjoy.

Yeah you ran by me in the sewers last night, remember?

Right. Last night was a blur. Saw a ton of old friends from my original EQ server of Brell.

Running in sewers will do that to you.

At least you didn't go Halfling...otherwise my character would have to carve you up like a Thanksgiving Turkey.

Silly rabbit, dorfs don't make things blow up good enough for my liking.

LOL! That's you?? I told Adam it probably wasn't because I didn't remember you saying you'd gotten EQII yet.
If you saw a little gnome running around named Colin, that's my sorceror-eventual warlock.

I don't remember seeing your name. That definitely would have caught my eye if I had.
I popped up there to do the Giantslayer basher task. And where the hell are the brutes and thugs? I can't find them, and I can't really explore past the black magi yet cause they'll kick my little gnome ass.

Giantslayer bashers and thugs are to the right of the intial fork in the road. Wow, that's cool! I saw you a ton in Thieve's way ;D
I was down there hunting Darkblade Brigands and scouts with a few old friends. Then when they left went up to Sprawl to join up with Bajah, Timpo, and Xyrra for the Giantslayers. Katrinity fucked around with this message on 11-19-2004 at 10:18 AM.

Oh awesome, you go warlock, and I'll go wizard, then we can be like wondertwins power acivate and you can be the bucket of water that poisons things and i'll make them blow up.

Wizard and Warlock are shared by both cities. Along with the two druid classes, two bard classes, and warrior classes I think. Katrinity fucked around with this message on 11-19-2004 at 10:22 AM.

What she said. Each archetype/city combonation has 4 possible subclasses.
Freeport only: bruiser, shadowknight, inquisitor, defiler, necromancer, coercer, brigand, assassin
Both cities: guardian, berserker, warden, fury, wizard, warlock, troubador, dirge

I was going to go warlock cause I got the impression that each subclass had a good part and and evil part.
My first desire is wizard, simply because this is Deth's daughter Colin and it fits more than using disease type spells. Deth's daughter would want pretty explosions.
And if you take a Qeynos only class, are you totally unable to ever go over to Freeport or what?
And where are class descriptions at?

You guys have any Priesty people yet?And if you take a Qeynos only class, are you totally unable to ever go over to Freeport or what?

1) Play whatever. Bajah is a cleric so far. He'll be a Inquistor. Cobbi is betraying to us and he'll be either a Warden or Fury.
2) You can't pick subclasses until starting at 18th-20th. The Betrayal quests have to be completed before 18th so you can only have the subclasses of your city at 18-20th.
And are Artisan's totally useless in groups and things you wanna take as an alt? Dr. Gee fucked around with this message on 11-19-2004 at 04:37 PM.

So are the subclasses all about the same gameplay style when there's a split between Freeport and Qeynos subclasses? Because from the little blurbs most of the subclasses i liked are Qeynos onlyAnd are Artisan's totally useless in groups and things you wanna take as an alt?
You can be both an Artisan and your normal class.
I have a seperate exp bar under my normal one on my Persona Screen for Artisan.
And there are differences in specifics but not so much overall play with the split subclasses. Take for instance the Assassin which I will be and the Ranger.
The Assassin has the highest DPS of any of the classes. Most of our skills revolve around stalking our prey hidden and springing up from behind with high damage moves. But also we have a good number of abilities that allow us to disable our prey and do hell of a lot of damage. Rangers are slightly less on the DPS than an Assassin but make up for it with superior ability with ranged weapons. They still have the ability to stalk and dish out good damage, but they have to do it mostly from a distance to be effective.
Another example, Monks and Bruisers. Monks are more about agility and dodging blows while striking back with precise manuevers. Bruisers are about getting in there and beating the pulp out of them before they can do much damage back to you. Katrinity fucked around with this message on 11-19-2004 at 04:46 PM.
Also, is it true that people from different cities can still group together and such but just can't enter the enemy city or gain bonuses from helping with city quests?
quote:
Dr. Gee had this to say about Reading Rainbow:
The only reason i'm REALLY hesitant to pick EQ2 up is that i liked WoW a lot in beta and i just can't afford to have more than one MMO going at the same time in both money and time.
I'm right behind you Gee.
WoW beta=GREAT
EQ 2=Looks more GREAT! but never played so I'm hesitant.
What shall we do... What shall we do...

Dr. Gee was naked while typing this:
So the actual differences in classes aren't as bad as the blurbs make them out to be. Gotcha. The only reason i'm REALLY hesitant to pick EQ2 up is that i liked WoW a lot in beta and i just can't afford to have more than one MMO going at the same time in both money and time. Also, is it true that people from different cities can still group together and such but just can't enter the enemy city or gain bonuses from helping with city quests?
The subclasses are mainly the same thing, just they might lean to a different aspect of the overall class. Like for the Shaman Subclasses. The Mystic (Good) has moderate ability with heals, buffs and debuffs with more abilities in the buff section than the debuffs. The Defiler (Bad) has moderate ability with heals, buffs and debuffs with more abilities in the debuff section than the buffs.
A Priest is a Priest, a Mage is a Mage, a Fighter is a Fighter, and a Scout is a Scout, when it comes to being wanted in groups.
The only difference is that you get a bit more specialized as you go along. All of the classes and subclasses are pretty much balanced. But the point is: any Priest class can be your healer, any Fighter class can be your tank, any Scout class can be your DPS, and any Mage class can be your utility.
So, play what you want to play, you'll be no less useful than the other classes in your Archetype.
Might borrow the game from a friend, who bought it and canceled it within about two days, to just reactivate his account for one month and give it a whirl. But i also still have Half-Life 2, Halo 2, and soon Vampires to play. And i need to play TFT before i get into WoW too.
Damn you game industry and your practice of putting so much sweet sweet game goodness within a month! Dr. Gee fucked around with this message on 11-19-2004 at 05:03 PM.
