My mom listened to 80s/90s rock when I was a kid. I actually stayed away from rock for a while, and I'm starting to wonder if it was just a "oho I pick opposite thing". I could be wrong, though.
That was very recently, though. I definitely felt the urge to be different from my parents in terms of musical taste, but lately I've recognized that my mom has pretty good taste in music.
My mom used to listen to crazy progressive music when she was younger, too. She was all about Yes, Genesis, etc... Now she's more into bluegrass/jazz and the fusion of the two. My dad's taste in music is less agreeable for me... He likes southern stuff (can't think of any examples), and the occasional Meatloaf (wtf) Kegwen fucked around with this message on 11-08-2004 at 03:38 AM.
my Father is a rock fan, Black Sabbath, the Zep, Blue Oyster Cult, all those bands of his youth.
my Mother listened mostly to Pink Floyd, classical, and a -lot- of pop/dance.

Bam, precisely. I wonder how much one could extrapolate about a person just based on the music their parents listen to, provided their parents had the radio/stereo on pretty regularly.
My tastes are ecletic. Basically anything goes, in moderation, except for country, new agey stuff, most pop, and most jazz. My core favorite piece is Pachabel's Canon. Other favorites include OMD, Depeche Mode, and Pet Shop Boys. Would you like a comprehensive list?
My mom has really varied tastes in music like me, but I tend to hear her listening to crazy 80's music. Her favorite artist is Jon Bon Jovi. My dad likes country. Always has, always will.
My dad listens to >> Rock. Classic and modern. (he also has some other stuff like metal, classical and some angry girl music thrown in for good measure.) he has 1500 freaking CDs.. X_X;;;
My mom listens to >> Country.
I can't stand country, or rap.
I'll listen to just about anything that isn't pop or rap, and even some that are.
It's not something people hear about.
My parents brought me up on the Beatles, Iron butterfly, The talking heads, Fine young canibals, Doug and the Slugs, jefferson starship, the doors... and so on. That's still what my father generally listens to, but now he also listens to bluegrass as well. My mom likes classic rock and a lot of new rock that has come out.
I also enjoy Tony Bennett, Trance, and the occasional emo band.
My parents are huge "Oldies" fans and will also listen to softer music, such as stuff by Celine Dion and Josh Groban.
My music taste is mostly Punk rock, but I listen to metal, retro, indie, classic rock and ska as well. leckzilla! fucked around with this message on 11-08-2004 at 04:08 PM.
Mum: Used to listen to... *shifty eyes* 80s light rock. You know. Micheal Bolton, Phil Collins and all that. Now listens to anything Christian[aside from the metal stuff].
Dad: Elvis, Creedence, and such "oldies".
I actually like my father's music, but I just can't ignore the cheezy lyrics in my Mum's... *shrug*
My parents listen to rock.
I'm eclectic...what else is there to say?
