Spiffy! Now get a connector so you can plug it into the line in or microphone jack on your computer. There are plenty of freeware distortion and similar programs out that are really cool. Also, it lets you practice right into your headphones, depending on how you set it up.

Of course, since it's bass, I guess distortion doesn't matter. Whatever, ignore me. I'm not thinking right, I guess.

I prefer Yamahas personally, but that is damn sexy.

I need to get back into playing an instrument. My bass had a certain irreperable issue, so I sent it back for a cash refund and I haven't decided what to do in terms of what instrument to play since then.

Drums are too expensive, and I don't know if I can keep a beat anyway
Bass is kinda fun
Guitar is something I should try

I'd like to learn to play piano/keys, but picking up piano at this point in my life is almost pointless

le sigh. Sorry for ranting in your thread

Bass distortion can actually be very cool

I learned some stuff on Amber's bass awhile back, and when I tried to play her guitar, it didn't work out very well. I got really used to playing at the bottom below the pick guard, and plus the whole thing with +1 string and like a dozen more frets to choose from, spread over a smaller area... totally didn't work out. I panicked, heh. It was CRAZAY.

I am also a novice, though, so...

Piano isn't that excruciatingly hard to pick up. Granted, you won't be playing much in bizarre key signatures, or any of Liszt's piano etudes.

Ah, I own an electric guitar, and I never look at pictures closely, so I immediately thought that's what it was. Then I gave it a second glance after I posted and saw it was a bass. I don't really know much about bass guitars.

The problem I have is that I lose motivation if I feel that I'll never be as good as I want to be. The person I admire the most in that field is Jordan Rudess, who is practically unmatched in the field of synth/keys playing.

Heh. I had more motivation with the bass, but I felt no reason to buy another one after getting my cash refund. Now I regret that decision, but at the same time I feel some pull to learn guitar, too. Heh.

Have a practice amp on loan from Ambular at the moment. Trying not to spend too much money all at once... have some saved up, so it's not like I can't afford it, but I don't want to go into Splurge Mode and suddenly come up broke. Amp will probably be carried by my next paycheck.

Need a stand, too. >.< I'm scared it will fall off of whatever it's leaning on during the night.

If I put together all the drum kit parts I've got laying around, I could probably make about 4 sets.
