People like Khyron played the beta and spewed "Waaah waaah it sucks it's laggy waaah." Maybe because it was beta? It's 100x better in release. Mortious fucked around with this message on 10-28-2004 at 12:47 AM.
Then I flew my Z95 around after doing the initial Alliance missions... to find I can't shoot down TIE fighters unless I'm doing a mission, it seems.
Now, to build the first of a series of R2 units to accompany me... it sucks that you have to buy a NEW droid with a new level data module each time you increase your droid command level. Gotta see if it will let me attach it to my starter Z95... prolly not, but hey.
Is the Imperial recruiter hard to find?
Anything I should be aware of?
Hints, tips, advice?
Whether I have time to play it or not is another story.
Highly recommended for space shooter fans, even if you didn't like regular SWG all that much.
(Uh, do you have the time to help getting me some apprentice exp, good sir?)

First: omg stfu
Second: Sure.
After getting a lot of loot drops doing Alliance Duty missions (basically go into space and go all open-season on TIE fighters); I managed to fill my tier 1 boxes and open up the tier 2 boxes. Side note: I do like, somehow, that you have to fill all the boxes in one level before you can train for the next.
By this time, I've bought a Y-wing chassis, made an R2 with a level 2 data module to be my astromech (named Lightspeed, oddly enough), and managed to outfit my ship with a bunch of tier 2-3 equipment. I can go through Tier 1 ships like candy.
After finishing the tier 1 missions on Moenia, it tells me my next trainer is in the abandoned Rebel base on Dantooine. Now that, is a pain. Because you have to take a shuttle to the nearest player city to the Rebel base, then travel 3.7k (at least on Chilly) to get missions.
Problem with that is, the duty mission I took, while it did spawn tier 2 TIE fighters for me to blow up, it spawned them in the middle of some tier 3 Black Sun fighters. Here's a tip... if you see an NPC ship fire on a ship you're trying to bring down, get the hell out of Dodge, because they'll be coming after YOU next. And they carved my ship into tiny little bits. With me inside it, unfortunately.
That of course, aborts the mission.
I agree it adds a lot to SWG, but it feels mre tacked-on than I thought it would. The gamma-correction level doesn't quite match up between ground and space, and the totally different keymaps don't help either.
I wish I'd taken a screenshot of my Y-wing (how the hell do you paint them?), because the scale seems totally off. I mean, you could play football (NFL rules, not arena football ) on the "flight deck" between the engines. Also, if you want a "WTF?" moment, chlick the arrow on your inventory that shows you your character when you're flying a fighter.
One last bit of good news is this. It's autodetecting of joysticks works really well - I plugged in my old, abandoned Gravis Eliminator aftershock, and SWG used it right away, even with the force feedback. Flying was much easier with two analog sticks and ten buttons rather than keyboard and mouse. So, that was a plus.
I need someone to man the gunner position in my Y-wing when I next go out... I can only fire the main guns.
I can't wait to get a better ship now..

Mortious painfully thought these words up:
Pick up Ranged Support 1 (from Marksman) and you can teach me it over, and over, and over, and over. I have somewhere around 168k combat exp and each teaching only takes 300.
Can I get in on some of that? I'm gonna be 4/4/4/4 in Medic pretty soon.

Same here. I'd play on Tarq a lot more if I could just get some * sob * apprentice EXP to get Master Marksman, so I can work on Commando.. oh, wait... I think I was warned not to go Commando. I just wanted that char to blow sh*t up...
It'll have to be soon since I need all my skillpoints for Jedi. The novice boxes and all the tier one boxes take 8 each.

Need to Find a Shipwright with 1000 at least. Paint kits are 250 Steel, 300 Inert petro chem, only 2 charges per kit. Tim styles can be made from Novice up, however at novice you have access to only 2 styles, and I belive they come from the same line as ship chassis.

Yep, already did that.
Will you be online tomorrow/today (saturday) afternoon?

Sure will, but if I'm in the middle of a buff run you'll have to wait until it fades. I can't afford to waste buffs while grinding Jedi.

That's completly understandable. No problem at all.
I went into Kaadara yesterday, minding my own business, when one of the stormies calls out "All units, be on the lookout for suspected Rebel sympathizer Mightion Defenstrana!"
Maybe after blowing up dozens of TIE fighters over Naboo, they began to suspect I am a Rebel sympathizer. Actually, the proper term would be "second lieutenant"...
I love it when I blow up a TIE fighter and the pilot takes the time to send me a message of "Aaaargh!".
