In fact, be careful of what you drink, eat, and wear if you're going to the Olypmics!

High on the list of blacklisted beverages is Pepsi, but even the wrong bottle of water could land spectators in trouble.

I think that is a little too extreme. We can live without pop or burgers, but we definitly need our water. I think its a little foolish just because water has a label that has been deemed "un-worthy" to be seen at the olympics.

you should get a water bottle or something and fill it with a bunch of pepsi brand drinks, then bring that it. No label so they can't tell and because its a mix a taste test won't work either.

Overreact some? They just dont want the labels being viewed on TV, you can still drink the stuff.

The article is sensationalizing.

If you read the entire article, it says that individuals wearing Pepsi tee-shirts WILL be allowed into the games. Individuals drinking pepsi, even with the label on the bottle, WILL be allowed into the games. Employees were advised not to wear rival brands that were too highly noticible.

It's only when these individuals deliberatly attempt to attract the attention of TV cameras in an effort to advertise a product that did not pay sponsorship fees are they concerned, and the olympic commission is only stating that they have the right to eject such people.

From the article: "There will be cases of individual spectators being allowed in wearing a T-shirt bearing the logo of a rival sports brand but anyone who tries to practise ambush marketing will be removed."

It's an entirely fair and legitimate concern, since the olympics survive, like any sporting event, in large part due to their sponsors.

Exactly. One spectator wearing an inside out green shirt that happens to say "Do the Dew" on it isn't that bad..

It's when a bunch of fans get together and hold up signs or paint their chests to spell out something advertising something that didn't endorse the olympics.

It's perfecly acceptable to remove those people.

All American medal winners are required to wear an Adidas outfit on the podium, according to the company's sponsorship contract with the U.S. Olympic Committee.

So, if I can manage to steal/destroy those outfits, then any medal wining U.S. athletes are required to be on the podium naked? That could be fun.

Seriously though, they're not even allowed to pick their own clothes for when/if they win? If their lucky shoes happen to be Nikes, they can't wear them?

I think they have bigger worries at the Olympics then to be concerned about what someone is drinking, eating, or wearing.

Adidas paid to send the US team there. They can make them do whatever they want them to do.

The athletes have been busting ass (and the occasional kneecap) for years to get there. I can see asking them to not wear stuff that is obviously from a rival company, but to be so obvious about turning them into living billboards sounds very demeaning to me.

Yes, I know alot of them do that kind of stuff for money when they win. But shouldn't that be their choice after they win (if they win)? As it's set up now, it sounds like they have no choice, if they want to go to the Olympics to compete, they have to be willing to advertise for Adidas. If they don't want to for some reason, then no matter how good they are, they're not going to get into the Olympics for the U.S. Right?

I'm sure if they took no money from the US Olympic team they would be allowed to wear whatever they wanted. However, that is not really a reasonable thing to do just because you don't like Adidas.

Nope. Construction was, as of Friday, still ongoing. Some buildings don't have phone. Power was only up on all buildings last week. They flat out decided not to build a roof on top of the pool facility because they were out of time...

The Greeks really screwed up, in regards to facilities.
