How many people here try something new if they go out to eat?

I usally make it a point to try something I have not ever had before when I order, but alot of my buds usally will order the same thing all the time, no matter were they go.

Depends on where i'm at. If it's a new place i'm gonna test the waters by ordering somthing that i know i usually like to determine the overall quality. After i verify that the place doesn't serve piles of dogshit, i'll order within my bounds of good taste. Usually switching off between something new and something i know i'll like.

Nothing wrong with eating "like a child." It can be fun at times.

Depending on the restaurant, I'll opt to try something new, generally at Italian restaurants (I'm in love with pasta). However, if I go to a steakhouse, I generally get the same thing, since they generally don't serve much besides steak and seafood. And I'm not a huge fan of either. (Why go there, you may ask? Because others want to, -_-)

I always get something new.

I am always picking on Josh because if we go to eat Italian food he always orders spaghetti. Yesterday for his birthday I took him to lunch at Macaroni Grill and he finally ordered something new. I was so proud of him!

UBT is more adventurous and will usually order something new.

I always order the same thing, depending on the restraunt. I'm boring and predictable.

Chicken and pasta in a cream sauce is simply the best-tasting thing in the world.

If the restaurant doesn't serve chicken and pasta in a cream sauce, I normally just ask the waiter/waitress to choose something from the menu entirely at random and serve it to me without telling me. (Yes, I inform them that I'm not allergc to anything) It normally gets me some great tasting food that I would never have ordered otherwise.

I always order the same thing. Unless I go somewhere new, then selection of a "usual" takes place.

I generally try something new if I am not dead set on anything specific. Lifes too short and all that... of course I say that and there is at least one resturaunt that every time I go there is only one dish I order.

Generally, I'm up for trying new things. If I try something new and it turns out to be good, then I'll rpobably get it a lot until I get sick of it, then try something else.

I like to think that I'll try just about anything once, though.

I should try this sometime.

I was in the Virgin Islands once. I met a girl, we ate lobster, drank piƱa coladas. At sunset, we made love like sea otters. That was a pretty good day. Why couldn't I get that day over, and over?

I like to try different pastas.. Today I had penne with a peppercorn cream sauce with chicken and bacon. It was okay.. Not the greatest, you couldn't taste the peppercorns.. I thought it would be spicy.. And now my diet will be paying for it. Salad tomorrow!

I'm a VERY picky eater though

Sounds like me but replace ketchup with plum sauce.

at a fast food place, it's always the same thing (varies depending on which place, but it's generally whatever sammitch tastes best, a small fry, and a medium coke).

At a regular restaurant, I'll look over the menu, see what looks tasty, find two or three things that seem to appeal to me, and then ask the server which of those they'd recommend.

Bite me.

No, Really. Bite me.

I frequently try new things, unless I have a real hankering for something particular.

I'll generally stay in the same "realm". I.E. I'll always get some kind of chicken or some such. But I typically don't go outside that "realm" with a given restaurant. If I'm paying good money for something, I want to know I'll like it as opposed to waste the money.

Typically, though, when I go to a restaurant it is because I want a certain thing I've had before. When I go to Kabuto, I want Filet Mignon. When I go to Ham's, I want the Cheese Fries.

I tend to get the same thing a lot, or the same two things.

Either because I found the best things a place has, or because I'm at a new place, and want to try something I know I'll atleast sort of like.

I eat new things as long as it doesn't have to contain things I hate (onions).

How hungry would you have to be to eat chicken and rice rehydrated with your own filtered urine?

Eh, when I try out a new restaurant, I get something similar to what I like first, then later, after I feel comfortable, I'll get some new stuff, especially at asian restaurants.

However, I do usually have a favorite item that I'll get frequently anyways at most restaurants.

It depends where I am. At places where I eat often, I tend to have a favorite, or 'regular', order, which I get about 80%-90% of the time. This applies most often to fast-food places, where ordering the wrong thing means I won't enjoy it. When I go to a more upscale restaurant, or someplace I don't eat often, I try for more of a variety, reading through items and seeing what "sounds interesting today". Usually it works out well, but not always. (For one example, I recently ordered a sandwich at a diner, that turned out to be French Toast instead of a sandwich.) If someone's taking me to a place I've never been, I tend to ask them for reccommendations.

People who refuse to try anything they haven't already are pathetic. It's like refusing to watch any movie you haven't already seen, or living your entire life on the same city block you were born on and refusing to go elsewhere.

It's ok to play favorites, and it's fine to have things you don't like, but I just can't comprehend the voluntary banality of people who refuse to try new things.

What's so wrong with that? I can honestly say that i have no desire to change the place that i call "home" to somewhere outside of San Diego. Specifically La Jolla. Hell, even there there's one specific spot i have in mind when i think of the spot i could quite happily live out my life.

Do i wanna travel to other places to see new things? Of course. But i honestly have no burning desire to live anywhere else.
