I hate how their battery replacement is $100 though. Thankfully my iPod hasn't showed any sign of battery decay.

I think yours is actually considered 3rd gen.
I believe the second gen ones are the oroginal design without the clicky wheel, which is what i have. first gen had the wheel that actually clicked.

Buy the applecare on it. It runs 59 bucks and covers the battery along with anything else that may go wrong.

Go iRiver!
Why? So you can have either a bulky machine with a bad interface or a tiny machine with no capacity and a bad interface? I will stick with the iPod or Nomad.
I especially love how they base their storage capacity on 64kbs WMA files. Which sound about as bad as me trying to sing.
Oh yeah and it cost more than the iPod with the same exact drive space.

bahahahahahahaahahahahahahahaha
The main unit is only thicker than the iPod and isn't really that bad. The remote has all the capability of the main unit. Navigating through songs is very easy as it's all folder based.
I don't know what you mean by the second point, but it has mp3 and ogg compatability, so...
And oh yeah it cost less than the iPod with the same exact drive space. $289 is less than $299. I know math is hard for you, having lived under a rock and using pebbles to learn how to count, but 9 is actually more than 8.
Next time, instead of bashing something without any kind of info whatsoever, why don't you try actually basing your argument on reality? Waisz fucked around with this message on 07-19-2004 at 01:55 PM.
In the second point I was pointing out their manipulation in advertising. They try to make it sound like they can hold more than the opposition. So for their test they use a a bit rate and format that is smaller than you can normally use and have any sound quality.
And you can cut out the fucking personal insults. This isn't a flame thread. So next time you are going to try to insult someone for supposedly not checking out the information why dont' you go and do some research on your own.

I got my information directly from their web site. http://www.iriveramerica.com/products/hd.aspx
The 20 Gig version cost $329.99 and the 40 Gig version costs $429.00
That puts both of them at 30 bucks more than the equivalent iPod.
$289 at NewEgg.
Anyone who pays more is a sucker.

While that may be the MSRP, you can actually get the iRiver 20GB for $289.99 and the 40GB for $379.99 at newegg. The same may be true for the iPod, but in a few stores I checked, the price remained solid at $299.99. No matter what, the price difference is really too small to be noticed.
Ok. That doesn't affect how the player works, but it is misleading.
As far as the personal insults, you are the one who came out and started using the harsh tone on the iRiver instead of stating facts. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Waisz fucked around with this message on 07-19-2004 at 02:16 PM.

Sorry. When I realized I had gone over the top in the first reply, I tried to edit, but it was too late. I am set off very easily.
