The death rate isn't too bad, depending on where you go to have it done.
Good to know she's allright.

If it was gastric bypass, the rate is 1 death in 1,000.

Can't eat cookies anymore. Nothing doughy. Such is the price of the surgery. Her cookie days are behind her. No more bagels either. No solids for like a week.
Plus despite Emily's obesity, she has a strong heart, surprisingly low blood pressure, etc. Aside from the sleep apnia and her leg rot situation (which is more poor surface circulation and cleaning than anything else) she was healthy enough that the doctors weren't going to pass her for the surgery at first because they didn't feel it was life threatening enough.

Did she get to do it laproscopically, BR? My mom wasn't sure and hadn't asked when her Mom called.
Sorry I guess I did forget to mention that. Yes, she did have it done laproscopically, if I am remembering the convo properly. Sorry I had two friends in for procedures today, fun times.
Thanks for the update Bloodrose!

Good, she'll recover a LOT faster that way. I went to her wedding not long after I'd had my gallbladder out laproscopically. Wouldn't have been able to unless they'd done it that way. Now you can barely see my four little scars.
I was a good little patient (most of the time) so I could come home today. I'm in little pain, mostly feels like I slept too long on my stomach and it is sore.
I'll give a more detailed experience when I feel more up to it.
