I'm not saying it's the right thing to do, hence the unwise comment.
Now the US having gone in alone with very little support in the rest of the world is only accepting help on its terms and using its methods. Would you support your countries involvement in an operation where you would have little or no say on how the operation was run? Hence why many countries are saying they want the UN be involved before they pledge troops.
