I've been looking to get my sister a removeable flash drive for her computer as a graduation gift from high school for her upcoming college years. I know a couple of people who had them and they said they're quite helpful as far as storage space and not having to carry around CDs or floppy disks... but don't know much about them myself.

I was hoping to get suggestions and opinions if any of you had one.. brand / how much memory / what you use it for / where you got it. I'm not really a fan of purchasing stuff online.. so stores I could actually go to would be more of a help.

Thanks so much!

I work at Fry's... a Few people have the PNY Pen Drive...

I personally like the look of the SanDisk Cruizers... they are mostly cheaper than the others and they dont look like ass... Iomega has a small ass 64mb.. AVB makes a cheap 64mb but it looks like ass and AVB prolly sucks anyhow...

Id go with the AVB pen as a Gift Idea... or the San Disk barring that.

Another Unsolved Mystery is goin' down in history.

The most important thing to look out for is that the stick is USB 2.0 capable, usb 1.1 devices have a very shitty transfer rate, her motherboard would have to support it too so make sure it does, in case it's an older model that doesn't do 2.0 you can get really cheap hubs (~20$) that you can upgrade it with.

If she doesn't have an MP3 player and you want to spend the money, some of them can act as one, I've seen an MSI 256mb model for ~150€ at a store here in Austria.

Life... is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable, because all you get back is another box of chocolates. You're stuck with this undefinable whipped-mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down when there's nothing else left to eat. Sure, once in a while, there's a peanut butter cup, or an English toffee. But they're gone too fast, the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits, filled with hardened jelly and teeth-crunching nuts, and if you're desperate enough to eat those, all you've got left is a... is an empty box... filled with useless, brown paper wrappers.

I love these things. I have 3 of them My last one was a neet little $70 256 stick from Alienware. I've seen 1gig thumbdrives around, but they were something like $250-300.
