I like the Dynasty Warriors games.
I don't have $$$ to spare just yet, for two games.
So I need to deide between Disgaea, and Samurai Warriors.
Help me choose!
Samurai Warriors doesn't have the replayability of DW3/4/XLs.
It's not something people hear about.

That'd be Shining Force GBA remake. And I got a reservation for that from my parents for my birthday. And I'm getting that no matter what.
But I'm wondering which of those two I should get, in the mean time.

Not on the list but have you played Final Fantasy Tactics for the PS1? It's a good game and dirt cheap.
Yes, I have. And played FFTA for GBA, and hated FFTA, though FFT was interesting.

I've never played it, but I'd actually have to say Disgaea.Samurai Warriors doesn't have the replayability of DW3/4/XLs.
As I own both, I can tell you that Sean speaks truth.

So... I now have Disgaea. Give me tips or something.
Here's a good melee heavy build:
Laharl: Sword
Etna: Spear
4 Samurais: 1 with a spear, the others with swords. Split them between Laharl and Etna (You'll see a tutorial about making new characters.)
2 Striders: Guns. Again, make one for Laharl and Etna
Cleric: Duh
Mage: I perfer a Star/Prism/Galaxy Mage. Look around for charts to get the better mages. Edit: Make sure the mage is a pupil of the cleric so she can cast spells as well. Extra magic always helps.
Lemme know if you get stuck somewhere. Kael fucked around with this message on 06-05-2004 at 09:46 PM.
tells you how to get all the classes and such.
Cant give link because gameFAQs is the suq though.

Ok, basic tips.
When you get to the first real map, learn to love it. You're going to do it several times before you go any further.
Start with Laharl, give him a sword. Have him rack up some kills till he can make a decent cleric. Have the cleric (weapon: Staff) rack up a few kills (harder to do), and make a crappy mage of each of the three starting types. Have one stand next to the cleric, and the cleric cast their spell till she gets it up to 1 skill. Repeat with all three mages. Now have the cleric work as a combo nuker/healer so she can rack up some decent mana. At some point, have her make three decent mages and start working them up. You'll unlock Star mage with them all at level 10 (I think). Then the cleric makes the star mage, gains her spell, and so on. (Star mage will be yours well after you're off this first map, but that's what you're shooting for at the moment.)
Now, while you do this, Laharl will have been helping out and getting a few more kills in. Have him make your fighters (about 2, both male) with spare mana, and equip them with anything but staves, bows, or guns.
As for Etna, give her a spear. She can work mostly the same as Laharl, but the main focus for her is a couple of FEMALE fighters. You'll need them at some point to unlock some other stuff.
I don't remember what all you need to unlock the rest of the stuff, but this will give you a good start.
