Even though its terrible for me to say, she is dead. Sure, her spirit was playing a HUGE role at the end of the game, but it is not because she rose from the dead or something (zombie Aerith!)
This movie looks completely badass and I want to see how they bring back Sephiroth and what they're planning on doing with ShinRa. Hopefully, Tifa plays so little of a role that she can be ignored other than a few decent fan-service shots.
Also, if they make me go through Aerith's burial scene in those good of graphics, I will cry...again. 
P.S. I really wouldn't like them to bring Aerith back. She played her crucial role out in FF7 and it happened to be dying for the sake of Planet. Bringing her back would be only a shallow effort to make fanbois go "Yay! Waii!" and end up totally cliche.

Last I heard the DVD will be coming out this Summer while the UMD format will be a so called launch title for the PSP when it launchs sometime in 2005.
