Right now my choices are:
One of my personal Favorite kits.
P-47D Kit
Something as a Nod to our cousins across the pond.
British Spitfire
One of my favorite all time airplanes.
P-38 lighting
Those are all fairly easy kits for me to build. The P-38 may be a bit harder but not to much so.
Now I am also considering some of the following which would be an entirely new challenge to me.
I would do this one up like the Doolittle Raiders.
B-25 Bomber
And the monster that would break me. But make me die a happy man...
B-17 Bomber. The mother of all challenges..
My current scale hangar is comprised of an AT-6 Texan, 2 P-51 Mustangs, an F-4U Corsair and a Pitts S2C Biplane. God this hobby is worse than drugs.
I would love to build more than one. But the problem is that even a basic Kit like those first couple can take 200+ hours to build. The larger ones like the bomber kits are looking at 2-3 times that.
Then there is the fact that engines are 100-300 each depending on size and ability, radio gear is another 150-200 and the smaller stuff is another 50-100. It is a real pain in the pocketbook. But so worth it when they are done and you can see all the work you put into it.
I am probably going to have to cut the B-17 off the list completely. I just did a bit of Math and I would be spending 700 in engines alone on it. Not to mention needing three times the normal servos. Yeesh. that thing would cost me 1500 to get int he air. Azizza fucked around with this message on 05-13-2004 at 09:46 PM.

If the B-17 actually uses four motors then I would go with that one just because that is beyond cool. Otherwise the Spitfire.
Yes it actually uses 4 engines. And Saito 40s run 179.99 each.
The servos I need for the plane run about 20 each with the retract servos being 50 each. So yeah. Lets just forget about that one.

Then spitfire.

The P-47D. You know you want to.
I almost ordered it the other day. But it would have been an impulse and I decided to wait and think it over. I started to ask on RCU but people there get to caught up in what company they like, etc. I wanted to know what you all thought looked good. You are more objective than they would be

Since we don't look for you to die anytime soon, you can hold off on the B-17.
