Edit: I don't care what you have to say about my politics, that's not what this thread is about. I'm not here to argue whether or not we should be there, or why Bush is such a bad man or why Kerry is a dingbat. Just a FYI.
HUGE FUCKING DISCLAIMER: For those of you who haven't heard, recently an American civilian named Nick Berg was kidnapped and beheaded by members of the Mujahideen in Iraq, supposedly as 'revenge' for the recent abuse of Iraqi prisoners. They taped it and released the video to the world. I don't have the strength to watch it, but I think the summary speaks for itself. Selected quotes from Little Green Footballs:
quote:
It opens with Berg sitting on a plastic chair, reciting his own name and the names of his parents and family members. The scene changes and hes shown tied up on the floor in front of five masked mujahideen, as one reads a long droning Arabic statement from a piece of paper. The audio is a few seconds ahead of the video; suddenly you hear a chorus of screams and shouts that dont match the video. Then, as the yelling and keening intensifies, the one who read the statement puts away the paper, pulls a long knife out of his shirt, leaps onto Nick Berg and begins sawing his head off as they all caper and dance around, calling out Allahu Akhbar! The screaming and gagging is nightmarish. And its not quick.
The video ends with one of these creatures holding up Bergs head while the camera pans in for closeups of the head and body.

I don't think I can watch it. This is why I hate religion (yes i know, good religion doesn't tell people to do this.) and I bet our country will do nothing about it. By the Goddess, if I was president, I would find out who they were and personaly ass-rape them with a Grenade.
I'll give you a moment to consider why this statement you just made is completely retarded.

Oh! oh! I know!!! pick me mr. Parce!
I don't even like the photos of the Iraqi soldiers being plastered around everywhere. I have no reason to watch a man being decapitated.

Yeah, I just watched it.
Still pretty chilling though.

Uh, I'm not debating it is. It's just really annoying hearing it all the time. It's like when someone would *splooge* in every art thread Ares made.

Micheal Savage said something like that today, except he was being sarcastic.
I doubt he'll ever be happy until all muslims are dead.
To these people, this is an act of glory, admirable to everyone who would fight with them.
And we're supposed to tolerate their existence? After all this, people still question our reasons for fighting them?

It's not like this was done because of the abuse photos.

I know, it just reminded me of what I heard on the radio today.
Man that guy's hateful. Says Islam is worthless and has contributed nothing positive to the world since algebra.

It almost sickens me how ignorant you are.

Perhaps you misunderstood me. I'm saying that guy was gonna die whether those photos were released or not. His killers would just use some other reason for doing it. JooJooFlop fucked around with this message on 05-12-2004 at 03:34 AM.
I know, it sounds like I am complaining, and I am. If Ogrish is going to host something, they should do it right, or not at all.
Yes, I do have an iron stomach. After seeing murder victims in real life, video doesnt much bother me.

You're not implying that it is fake, are you? Because I'm pretty sure the guys decapitaed body has been found.

A very small number of isolated individuals teaching torture methods to soldiers as part of interrogation training?

The US commander in charge of military jails in Iraq, Major General Geoffrey Miller, has confirmed that a battery of 50-odd special "coercive techniques" can be used against enemy detainees. The general, who previously ran the prison camp at Guantánamo Bay, said his main role was to extract as much intelligence as possible.
*snip*
Sleep deprivation and stripping naked were techniques that could now only be authorised at general officer level, he said.
Doesn't really sound like six soldiers invented the manstack by themselves.
Let's see what the Geneva Convention relative to Prisoners of War says about using coercion to extract intelligence from prisoners:
quote:
No physical or mental torture, nor any other form of coercion, may be inflicted on prisoners of war to secure from them information of any kind whatever. Prisoners of war who refuse to answer may not be threatened, insulted, or exposed to unpleasant or disadvantageous treatment of any kind.
Also, no one ever questiones that terrorism should be dealt with, the point of contention is usually about how much should be sacrificed to fight it and in which way it should be done.
quote:
Loosely translated, Mr. Parcelan says "Kill the whales":
With all due respect, America is suffering the most at the hands of terrorists. We'll decide how to handle them.
Are you insane? Terrorism isn't even a blip on the radar when it comes to causes of deaths to american citizens. More americans have died from DUI's in the last year than have died from terrorism in the last 10. More Americans have died from ciggerettes in the last 6 months than terrorism in the last 10 years. You're more likely to be struck by lightning than be killed or injured in a terrorist attack.
Israel is suffering the most at the hands of terrorists. They have a suicide bombing like every 2 days for gods sake. Terrorism is an actual threat to the well being of their country. Here it is an overhyped media buzzword, a trick polititions are using to get themselves in the newspapers and votes in their ballot box, and a reason to waste 47 billion that could have been better spent on schools or medical research or energy research or fixing the national debt. Idiots you say? They cut the mans head off with a short blade, sawing and hacking through while he blead to death and choked on his own blood. I'd say they knew exactly what they were doing.
Sorry if you think decapitations are all swift and 1-2 easy pleasy like they are in the movies.
