The site we are using relies heavily upon ViewSonic. The problem? I have a ViewSonic flat-screen at my house and it is a piece of crap. Its speakers have blown out and it drops a signal half the time. It's poo.
Naturally, I am distrustworthy of ViewSonic. However, the alternative is to purchase a monitor elsewhere. I am always wary of buying outside the set. I would enjoy purchasing a monitor that comes with it. The ViewSonic was also purchased outside the set.
So I am at an alarm. Please give me your insight, friends, but do not blow the Horn of Gondor.
Oh, DON'T blow it. Woops.

Viewsonic is a fine company. You seem to have been screwed in that one instance, and you being wary of them is perfectly understandable.
If you insist on buying another brand, check into Sony Trinitrons.
The Dell P991 is just a Trinitron relabeled for distribution with Dell systems and I highly recommend it should you choose to go the used/refurbished monitor route.
