What do American Pie's Stifler and Soul Calibur's Sophitia have in common? Two words: Warren Zide. According to The Hollywood reporter, the Pie and Final Destination producer has purchased the film rights to Namco's fighting game series.
While no date has been set, the project will be Zide's first under his new Sony-based production banner, Anthem Pictures. Matthew Rhodes, Noel Vega, and Jesse Warshal will co-produce.
While no details were given on the Soul Calibur movie's plot, it is likely it will take elements from the original Dreamcast and arcade game as well as Soul Calibur II, its arcade, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube sequel. Both games concern a cast of mighty warriors, lots of brutal hand-to-hand combat, and the all-powerful Soul Edge.
GameSpot will have more details on the Soul Calibur movie as its preproduction nears.
From the man who produced American Pie?
Fuck.

Final Destination (The Original, not the Sequel) was a good, and sufficiently creepy, non-sophmoric movie.
Hell some of the greatest Action-Adventure/Horror Director/Producers have great comedies under thier belts too.
Which reminds me, I need to get around to watching The Count of Monte Cristo.

I guess I should have used the LIE tag.
Sarcasm works better without it.

There is nothing redeeming about that movie. It did horrible things to the steet fighter charachters and storyline.

one of these things just doesn't belong here!
one of these things just isn't the same...
If you can turn a Disneyland ride into an award-winning movie, you can do it with a video game...it's a big 'if', though.

... I want to be Sigfried, damnit! I'll grab my headshots and blow them out of the water with my tres chic acting skills. Then I'll show them how a tiny boy lifts a MASSIVE GODDAMNED sword and makes it look -pretty.-Yeah.
Then I'll fuck a pie.
You could work either as Siegfried, or Kilik, depending on how evil you can be. And how quickly you can grow and bleach your hair. If he works out, Delidgamond can be Voldo and terrify everyone with his Voldo-costume. Shudder. I nominate Lashanna for Ivy, Parcelan for Cervantes, Lazzy for Seung Mina and whoever has the best Elvis-hair for Maxi. We can set Drysart on fire and use him for Inferno, if we want, and Red Mage could be Yunsung but everyone'd just kill him.
And there have been good fight movies. I enjoyed Mortal Kombat (the first one), for instance. And I tend to agree with Parce; if you can take disjointed animatronic scenes from a 30+ year old Disney ride and turn it into a fantastic movie, there's a chance (however slim) that they won't botch a Soul Edge/Soul Calibur movie.
On the other hand, they mutilated Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat 2, and more recently House of the Dead.

Anywahys, I think that there is an actual chance of this working. Why? Because Soul Calibur has had a very well thought out story line. And well thought out characters. I want to see how they pull this off though, and I want to see which story line they'll follow.
The most likely of the characters to be seen (My opinion):
Cervantes
Ivy
Kilik
Sophitia
Voldo
Nightmare (Sigfried before the soul calibur took his soul)
Maxi
Seung Mina
Xhangua
I hope to see:
Mitsurugi
