I like Chicago Mayor Daley's take on it..
When asked if Gay/lesbian marriages would undermine the whole institution, he said.. [ 02-19-2004: Message edited by: Aury ]
"Marriage has been undermined by divorce, so don't tell me about marriage," he said. "Don't blame the gay and lesbian, transgender and transsexual community."
I totally applaud his bravery, because standing up like that will get him castigated in the political world.
It really brings a tear to my eye. Yes, I think that everyone should have a right to love whomever they want. Straight or gay. I think that marriage is a good thing. I am proud of the mayor of San Fran. This Chicago guy has guts too.

Zair stopped staring at Deedlit long enough to write:
Mayor Daley amuses me greatly. It seems like he does whatever the hell he wants in Chicago. When he wanted to get rid of an airport and people were protesting, he just had it bulldozed during the night before anyone could do anything.
Yeah, that was awesome. I love every reminder I get that the rules don't apply to anyone in politics.

We can't change it, might as well have a sense of humor about it.
But back on topic, I think he is doing the right thing. Plus, if they legalize gay marriage in Chicago, I figure it will cause a lot of people to come to Chicago, thus creating more revenue for my state.

Marriage laws go through the state, not the city.

Even Governor Blago admitted that Daley had more political power in Illinois than he(Blago) did.

Alaan painfully thought these words up:
Even Governor Blago admitted that Daley had more political power in Illinois than he(Blago) did.
Fine, whatever, but they have to legalize it through Illinois not Chicago.
My current goal is to move to the suburbs there.

Azizza had this to say about Knight Rider:
This man is pretty much the laughing stock of every political circle. He is a pathetic man and honestly I can't figure out how he managed to get elected.
Bitter much?

This one time, at Azizza camp:

The people of CHicago seem to think he is alright. If I remember correctly, his last reelection was a landslide.

Azizza probably says this to all the girls:

I think because he is fairly honest. He says what he wants to do and generally sticks to it. He's a politician, so there are exceptions, but he is better than most in that respect.

So quoth Alaan:

So, what you're saying is that people want robots in office?

I know I do.

I don't think Waisz likes Richard Daley.
Actually, I'm just taking up the devil's advocate/screwing around like I always am.
I tried to correct my hijack in my second post. No luck.

That made me laugh.
This thread in general made me laugh. Thanks guys.
