Get yourself an NES emulator and play this.

It's a very impressive ROM Hack of SMB3. I know, I know, when you think of ROM Hacks of Mario games you immediately visualize Mario with a penis for a face or something, but this is not one of those hacks. It's a completely different game, and it's challenging as all hell.

Read the .txt in the zip for an overview of the game.

Huh. It's made by Challenge Games, the same guys who brought SMB3C...I remember having fun times with that one. For those who aren't aware of the hacking group, their site is HERE; they're extremely well-versed in the creation of very very difficult versions of SNES and NES games.

Thanks for the link!

Since I'm at work I lack an emu here to play it on... so I went in search of Nesticle95 (which is what I use at home)...

This looked like my first valid link according to google. It seems they cached the page prior to the board admins having fun with this guy.

Nesticle is ancient. Get a better emulator.

Eh, I already grabbed FCEU so it's not an issue... Nesticle has just been laying on my harddrive (and EMU backup disks) for half of ever and it's always worked so I never questioned it.

Holy crap this is hard. The first Hammer Bros. thing is fucking crazy.

And yet, I love it. Mario 3 ruled.

Oh yeah, and being able to go back through levels is pretty nice. Just had to go back and get Fire Mario to rip through the Hammer Bros.

Grrr, each map has a hidden key, that you don't get a hint to until after you beat it, but when you go back, gotta re-clear all the maps to GET there

*mutter*

Yeah, 1st map, clue was between two hills in a map at the bottom of the world, in a block you cannot see

Damn, Fire Mario should be called Mega Mario. You really can jump with it now.

Found it. Dead center level at the bottom, there is a part where there is two hills side by side. Jump in the middle of them and a note block will appear. Jump off the note block and there will be a treasure chest. Inside is the key.

To get the key in World 7, blow a warp whistle while you're anywhere on the map.

Key in World 2: It's in one of the last levels to the far right of the world, its the top most one. You'll know you are close to the hidden note block for the key when you get to the first fireball spitting Boo. The hidden block is a little ways to the right of him.

Found key in World 3 by accident: In the fourth area of world 3, theres tons of water and stuff right? Well, in a part of the area, theres a little part where the bubbles don't go all the way down to the bottom of the screen, meaning you can swim underneath them. On the other side of the bubbles is a pipe which takes you to the key.
