I just got a Xbox to PC USB Controller adapter. Unfortunately the only thing that came in the box was the adapter itself, no software. Now I just plugged it in and tried to use it, but nope. XP can't autodetect how to use it. So I went to the site I bought it from and tried to Download drivers. Here is the link I got for the drivers: click. If anyone can figure out how to install these drivers please tell me.

From the site:
Q. How do I install the drivers?
A. Download file. Unzip file. Plug in Controller. Windows asks for drivers. Select "Have Disk". Browse to where you unzipped the files. Voila!

Its not doing the auto install when I plug it in. It pops up a message saying: USB Device detected, but then nothing.

Go look under your Control Panel for an icon that says "Game Controllers" or "Joysticks and Game Devices" or some crap like that. See if there's an entry in there and then fiddle with it from there.

If XP has an 'Add/Remove Hardware' icon in the control panel, try using that to force to the computer to look for it and install drivers.

If it's not recognized the first time, some installations of windows will just mark it as an unknown device and never give you the install prompt again. This is why just about everyone who makes USB devices asks you to install the software before plugging it in..

but all is not lost.

go to your system properties and under the hardware tab, click on device manager.

Go down the list of devices and find the "? unknown device" or "USB Human Interface Device" and double click on it. on the driver tab, you can click the button to install the driver then point it to wherever you unzipped the files.
