A couple days ago I went to www.zdoom.org and got the latest version of zDoom, which allows me to play those games in Windows XP at 1152x864, with proper sound, even. 
With proper sound and mouse/keyboard support, too. All it needs is the ability to bind Heretic and Hexen items to hotkeys...
Brings me back to those days playing Ultimate DOOM on my Packard Bell, and even allows me to play the three DOOM 2 levels I finished, many (eight!) years ago... I remember getting emails telling me how great my first level Satan's Workshop, was, and is.
I remember playing modem Doom 2 against my friend Jeff - it was even more fun when we played on the levels I made... nothing quite like knowing where all the goodies are. bwhahahaha.... Fake pillars hiding invulnerability items, hidden teleporters that don't show up on the map... I was a bastage.
I remember finally getting my mother to let me use her credit card to order the full version of Heretic directly from id with my Christmas money back in January 1996, and being overjoyed I could finally play episodes 2 and 3 of Heretic... heck, I even found the receipt for it when I was cleaning my room last month. Still kinda bummed the box was a bit crushed when it arrived.... I still have the box, of course.
Ah, the memories....
I just had SUCH an urge to play Doom and kill y'all.

ZDoom does. Make sure you have version 1.9 DOOM.WAD or DOOM2.WAD files. I just copies mine off the Zip disk I had all four games installed on. I can even provide my levels if you feel brave enough to face me on levels I made.

Zdoom gives it that more old-school look, y0. I didn't want to mess with models and crap. Having mouselook with Doom and Heretic/Hexen rocks, f00.
jDoom (Newer graphics, models (3d enemies), etc).
zDoom (0ld-skool graphics, sprites (2d enemies), etc).

Download time when I get home... zDoom was pretty much plug and play, just supply the games' WAD files. I have Ultimate DOOM (v1.9), Doom 2 upgraded to v1.9, Heretic updated to 1.3 (Shadow of the Serpet Riders patch), and Hexen v1.1 (No Deathkings, though...

You do need to own the original games. These are basically different executables. The [DOOM, DOOM2, HERETIC, HEXEN].WAD files contain all the monsters, levels, sounds, music, textures, etc...

jDoom supports Deathkings, too.
jDoom is also just 'supply the WAD files'.

You gotta download 11 for jDoom + the models. (2 for jDoom, 9 for models)
