In this age of Flash it isn't much of a problem but it is still disconcerting when I went to my favorite Tetris page and was not allowed to play (I couldn't ever get TetriNet to work for me; whenever I entered a game it just said 'You Lose!')...so is there somewhere I can get a Java software thingy on my computer?
Thanks in advance if anyone can help outupo

Thanks for the link I already checked out that page, and while I normally consider myself moderately technically literate they lost me there. What is it I should download?

No, Really. Bite me.
Link to the actual download you want (choose one of the two windows installers)
Microsoft's JVM runs Java applets faster on Windows than Sun's JRE. It's based on an old Java spec (1.1, IIRC), but I use it in IE, since it plays nicer with that. it's been discontinued, but you can find copies of it if you do a Google search for Microsoft Virtual Machine. Or try here. If you're using Mozilla or Firebird as your main browser, ignore this paragraph entirely.

You're not supposed to be able to get MSVM anymore, but I'd guess some folks archived it? I'm supprized that things still work with it or is that just for things running off older java code?
It runs quite a bit faster than Sun's JVM, and it has the incompatibilities its infamous for that some applets unfortunately rely upon. The latter being the main reason its still sought after.
