So sad, I have to go into Charlotte tomorrow and sit around while they fix the fuel filter.

On the plus side, the guy on the phone says that they will wash it for free too! I'm so lazy

P.S. No spoilers in this thread har har!

Recalls are very common on most cars. Tis one seems to be something that would only occure over a long period of time.

Isn't the Focus close to setting a record in recalls?

From what i've seen.. they don't treat their customers very well during recalls either (Ford spacificly). I donno about dodge.

I have a recall on my vehicle.

Apparently, if you're stupid enough to not push the lever fully into park (If you can't do THAT, you shouldn't be driving anyway, but), and leave the car running, it's possible that it could roll backwards.

What stuns me is the fact that they only do recalls if the cost of the insurance payouts would be more then the cost of recalling them. Soo... Who would be stupid enough to make all that crap happen.. AND get run over in the process?

Not really, IT sounds like they screwed up useing a wrong sort of metal to make the caseing, ot didn't coat it. In costal areas that thin metal will rust through pretty fast, plus winter hitting and all that salt on the roads. This reminds me, I need to change my Fuel filter..Danm pos ford

Umm Most cars use lot of polymers now adays. My only complaint about Saturns have bee the size. Ad theNew L300s are nice and roomy.

Oh and Pke. Yourerigt. I wnt back and read more closely.

My car had a recall on it. Too bad I cant go in and get BMW to fix it, I'm about 20 years to late. They made the fuel breather hose's out of tubing that wasn't high enough grade to stand up to petrol for long periods of time. As such over time the fuel breather hose degrades. And mine has done such, and now anytime I top off the tank, gas leaks out of what used to be the fuel breather hose. It runs up to a charcol container under my battery, something to help keep emissions down or some such. Which doesn't work on my car since it's burning oil pretty consistantly now anyway.

But yea. Recalls are fun. My dad's truck has had a few, and my mom's car has a few out too. Both are Nissans. Pretty solid cars too, neither has failed yet in the past 3/4 years of ownership, and my dad's put nearly 80,000 on his 00 Frontier.

Back on topic, Saturn is the only division of GM that's goal is exclusivly to be AWESOME to their customers. They want to have a good product, and treat their buyer's like kings. That's their goal, because of it they hadn't turned a profit a few years into their production. I don't know if they have yet, but my guess is they are. GM would have axed it if it wasn't returning something.

I adore my Saturn. Bought in new in 96, and the most serious problem it's had is a dead fuse. It's taken me halfway across the country and back at least three times, and has never demanded anything more than regular oil changes, and standard maintenance.

Obvious safety issues have to be recalled, if they don't it's criminal. As for that recall, My guess is you car is a Subaru with a recall on the pawl, which made it so the parking mechanism didn’t actually engage. It isn’t because of stupid drivers, with the exception of you Slick, it is a defective machine and poor quality control that is at fault.
