If you want to join, download every file in this folder. (credit to Kegwen for hosting!) The ClientDirections.txt will tell you what to do. EDIT: When all is said and done it'll occupy ~3gb of your hard drive. I might try to get around this. somehow.
After that, send me a PM with the name, password, email address, and gender you want your account to have. The email address doesn't have to be real; you just need to input it when you delete a character.
5 characters per account and very little lag! My server has had a bit of crashing in the past few days, but I'm usually right on it when it does (I think I've worked that out, but it may do it again. suspect the power supply is dying). Also, as far as the Engrish goes, I may or may not redo all the scripts. It depends on player response.
Happy New Year and hope to see you on the server. [ 01-01-2004: Message edited by: Kalculus Kid or Mathinator or Waisz ]

Yep, it's an option in the setup. (well, the option actually says "run full screen")
If 10 or so people say they'll play regularly, at least for a while, I'm in. Also, does your server have server-wide chat for everyone so we could all talk to each other? [ 01-01-2004: Message edited by: Cowboy Darius ]

Verily, Nina doth proclaim:

I thought you were. I sent you a PM about it several weeks ago. You didn't reply.
They make PMs for a reason, you know.
Well, I'd reccomend running Athena, if that's not what you already run. ;p Fully working 2-2 classes, all the new kRO zones, fairly low resource consumption (well, compared to Aegis, the leaked official server). Only reason I didn't offer earlier was for lack of somewhere to host the gigantic client files. Well, one way or another it boils down to the same thing so make what you will

It has a chat system, yes. I'm pretty sure the interserver allows that. You just have to create the chat room.

I'm running Aegis. The system has a 2100+ and 1gb of DDRAM. I looked at Athena but I managed to install Aegis first, so it stuck.
To be honest, I downloaded Athena, took a look at it, and thought "this looks too clean to be the whole package. I'd have to download more packages or something, I guess" Under further investigation, I found I had the whole deal, but I was already figuring out Aegis. How.... Nina.... uughhhhhh:
Is it still updated at all? A one-time leak is understandable, but I doubt it's still being leaked.
There are 2-2 classes, but no 2-2 skills. 2-2 classes are given hybrid skills. I don't know what zones are out there, but I have "comodo" on mine, plus a lot of that southern desert area.
Oh, there's also guild wars. From what I understand, that's fairly new to Aegis. [ 01-01-2004: Message edited by: Kalculus Kid or Mathinator or Waisz ]

Well, yeah, Athena is more up to date then. And easier to manage, if you ask me, than Aegis, which promptly memory leaked and self-destructed when I tried to run it.
What is it that Athena has? The 2-2 skills are in the db but I've heard that the client doesn't have them, or something. Athena have new zones, too?

Yeah, there's about 3 more towns and their fields released after Comodo. Aside from that and the 2-2 skills, I'm not sure off-hand of what Athena has that Aegis doesn't have. I just host the server and barely administrate it, that's up to Saralene.

I may consider it. Aegis has been really easy for me to change. I've already started learning it, so making the switch would be a bit of a pain.

Fizodeth had this to say about Jimmy Carter:
Is ther esomething wrong with the Sakray patcher? Cus it keeps freezing for me.
Wait, patcher? Do you mean "repacking" or patching? Do not patch. Play using the exe like it says in the directions.
quote:
3. Edit the target lines of the ragnarok.exe and sakray.exe SHORTCUTS that were created by the installer to have
/repak on the end (rightclick the shortcut, put /repak after what appears in the 'target' line)
example: "C:/Program Files/Gravity/RO/ragnarok.exe" /repak
4. Run the Ragnarok shortcut and let it "repack". Do not start the game.
5. Run the Sakray shortcut and let it "repack". Do not start the game.

Fizodeth had this to say about Matthew Broderick:
It says nothing of using the EXE, it says to use the shortcut.
Yeah, okay, ignore my exe comment, then. So, it says repacking and then freezes?
I got through that part though. [ 01-01-2004: Message edited by: Fizodeth ]

erm O_o it shouldn't be patching. I think I need to make an image guide to accompany the text guide.

I stated something along those lines in IRC. These instructions suck.

I'm done.
No, seriously, though, if yours is so much better, why aren't you doing this? [ 01-01-2004: Message edited by: Kalculus Kid or Mathinator or Waisz ]
Actually, instead of providing the bulk installers... Just make an archive of a patched upand properly installed copy. Don't you think it'd work better?

Wait, I'm not following here.

Nina's fortune cookie read:
Well, you're providing a bunch of setup EXEs, which usually rely on the patch server to be complete, right? Since you don't have a patch server, better distribute the correct version in the first place, if you're not planning to make any updates...
I see what you mean, now. They'd still have to do the grfio step, as it turns 600MB into 2.5GB. It's easier to host 600MB.
Sorry, but I need sleep. I'll sort this out when I don't feel exhausted. [ 01-01-2004: Message edited by: Kalculus Kid or Mathinator or Waisz ]

Yes, it does. Otherwise, there's no way to put the custome sclientinfo in.

Oh... shit... fuck me sideways and call me shirley. I was under the impression it errored if you did that. You can just remove the grfio part completely O_o
Still want 5.0.exe because of its language fix, but... dayum.
I'm beginning to realize this project is probably too far over my head. I really need to test things for myself instead of following what I read.
I'm sorry for being incompetent. For everyone that I wasted time/drive space, *seppuku* [ 01-01-2004: Message edited by: Kalculus Kid or Mathinator or Waisz ]
I'm not really interested in sending my players elsewhere, myself.
So, whatever.
If you're interested in my server, PM me for more info. [ 01-01-2004: Message edited by: Neo Saralene ]
I'll be willing to post a link to the client as soon as I have somewhere I can easily distribute it. We had an FTP but it's down for a few days yet..
