The recipe:
Grandma Doigs Molasses Crinkles
¾ c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
4 T. molasses (1/4 c.)
½ tsp. Salt
2c. Sifted flour
2 tsp. Baking soda
1 tsp. Cinnamon
½ tsp ginger
½ tsp cloves
Preheat oven 375. Grease cookie sheets.
Melt shortening and cool. After cooling add sugar gradually to the
Shortening. Blend in beaten egg and molasses.
Combine flour, baking soda, cloves, ginger, salt, and cinnamon. Resift.
Add molasses mixture and mix well by hand. Place in frig. At least one hour.
After one hour, remove dough from frig, stir, and form into 1 inch balls and roll in granulated sugar. Bake 8-10 min. Cool on rack.
Yummy when warm out of the oven. The only thing my old man really lements are loosing these Irons used to make a special sort of cookie he like that my great grandma used to make..She was Norwegian, apperantly They make some danm fine cookies.
