Whats the longest you have slept?
She responds "It's Monday night."
Thusly, the longest I've slept is 16 hours. And I definitely could've slept longer if I didn't make myself get up. Man I was tired that day. [ 11-22-2003: Message edited by: Suddar ]
I mean, on and off I am sure I could go longer, just by forcing myself back to sleep over and over, but as one entire sleep period at once, 12 hours
I still can't figure out how in the hell the clocks in my dreams are synched with my alarm clock perfectly. it's sort of creepy
And for going without sleep (Which I HOPE some people in this thread mistook as the intended question, seriously), I once went 44 hours in purpose. Could have gone longer but decided I had had enough of it and just went to bed. Was curious what the hallucinations you are supposed to get after 30 hours were like. Really it seems impossible to 3 whole days with not getting food/drink even if sick, not to insult you.
Not when you're sleeping, all your metabolism but your brain is slowed down... So it's possible, I figure.
Either way, longest I went without sleep was 52 hours. Longest I slept was 18 hours, right after that sleepless 52.
I might have slept longer during a sugery, but that doesn't count due to the wonderful drugs
I don't like sleeping much. Someone invent a way to get rid of it
Last Thanksgiving when I had the illness from hell I slept on and off for 48 hours, in between extended periods of vomiting and diahhrea (at the same time). So that doesn't count.
Then there was when I got my wisdom teeth cut out. I was out for about two days, but that's because they had me on some serious meds. I woke up long enough to take more from time to time, but immediately fell asleep afterwards...went on for two or three days.
It's possible to sleep straight for several days if your body's suffered either trauma (my cousin slept for several days after having had extensive surgery on his leg after a car accident; non-sedated, just needed rest), or if you're just that exhausted (I knew a guy back in NC who stressed during exam week, then for two days after nada). Your body doesn't start to suffer in most cases for a while...food-wise it just switches over to alternative sources (fat). Dehydration might get you, but everyone has different tolerances.

amen to that, staying up for the long drives requires training and preparation, that'd be like a fat kid running a marathon...just ain't gonna happen
I've gone about 30 hours without sleep before giving in to sleep.
As for staying up I can pull 36 hours pretty consistantly. Never really tried going much beyond that.

Only temporary
Your psyche is not permenantly altered until you have gone around two-hundred hours without sleep. Sixty hours just causes visual and adio halucinations until you get sleep.
At LEAST 3, I know that much.
But under normal circumstances, a GOOD refreshing sleep for me is 10 hours, but that only happens two days a week (friday, saturday).
