Every generation we will descend upon the pigs and pick out the descendants of these idiots, and test them. The stupid will be cast out, the smart will be brought back into the fold.
Hey, it worked fine for Xenogears, until the rulers of the system got greedy
It's not something people hear about.

"Stupid" is relative.
By this idea, you'd all be chopped up to feed me.

Oh wait, my bad. I think I'm thinking more of Thomas Moore's Utopian society idea.

In order for a slave labor class to exist and support an upper class willingly and without threat of rebellion, the upper class must remain hidden from the slave class. The tool for the job is religion.
Contact between the two classes must be strictly prohibited. The upper class may be built up as a pantheon of deities to which homage must be paid. There must be doubt! People must question the very existence of these "gods" - they must be no more substantial than any religion we have today. Then, people would accept thier monotonous lives of slavery because they know of nothing else. In truth, this may well become a paradise for slaves and highborn alike - aren't the stupid naturally happier in less complex lives? If they are not born slaves, don't they invariably make slaves of themselves in one way or another? [ 09-29-2003: Message edited by: Maradon! ]

Didn't the Catholics pretty much do that in the Middle Ages? I mean, there was the nobility, who ruled by divine right, and the clergy, who spoke for God. . .and then there was everyone else, who might get a break after death if they were good.

There will be computers in any utopian society, and while there will be computers, there will be need for tech support. I really don't hate my job, I hate the moronic customers who call in. If I got decent customers who would listen to what I say and do what I tell them without going off into god-only-knows where by clicking on every sparkly pretty thing while I tell them not to do that, then I would have no problems with my job, and people would have no problems with tech support.
It's the stupid fucking morons who ruin it for everyone

If everyone was smart, they wouldnt need tech support.

Not necessarily. You can be smart without having intimate knowledge of the inner workings of computers. And even if you know how to use 'em, they can still break, and having tech support around would still be a good idea.
It's not like they're going to get rid of all mechanics if they get rid of stupid people.
So, in a sense, the same society you support should have just put you into slave labor now. Gets your stupidity out of the gene pool earlier. So, get back to work slave and quit your bitching.

2. Machiavelli had nothing to do with utopia.
Do you even know what Machiavelli is known for? Before anyone argues that the central idea is utopia, they need to re-read. That's like saying L Ron Hubbard is akin to the Pope.
3. Slave labor in an industrialized society is pointless.
The whole reason that the Americans (or most countries for that matter) needed slaves was that at the time, there was no mechanized system to do the work the slaves did (mostly tending the fields). So long as there are machines, you will never need a slave labor work force akin to that again. A mass of people are a thousand times more trouble to maintain than a machine. Machine blows an engine, you stick a new engine in. Human blows their heart or has a stroke and you have to train up a new person. Not to mention the humanitarian concerns. If you're of the "work them til they're dead" Japanese-in-World-War-II mentality, I invite you to find out the true story behind the Bridge on the River Kwai...it just doesn't work. Hell even American slavery wasn't exactly like most people think it was.
4. You'd never get backing for it.
