A kid in my guitar class dresses in all black every day. His fingernails are painted black, and his hair is in these dumb little braid things.

I bet you he considers himself goth. I just want to kick him.

No.

And as for the whole goth thing, I can't help thinking that the only real goths are the ones that don't put in the effort to wear freaky makeup. I mean, if the world is that pointless, why put all the effort into makeup? Why wear makeup at all? You'd just be trying to shout, "I am goth!" to a world that supposedly doesn't give a damn.

It looks like two layers. First is a pair of shorts, then a skirt that starts at the base of the shorts' zipper. The skirt zips in the back, while the shorts zip in the front.

I could be wrong though.

Well, since we're on the subject.

I have to admit that I find the whole "goth style" pretty intreguing... And that goes a little further than just the fashion, I think... It's not for me, personally -- but I can admire the people who do it just to do it... not the ones who do it in order to make a huge statement that they're "rebellious, different and kewl!2~". The honest people, I've found, don't really have the need to scream out how cool they look and how "unique" (or not!) they are. ;P

While i don't consider myself part of any stereotype such as Goth, I admit that I tend to buy most of my stuff at Hot Topic...and I would never be caught dead with that on which I find really funny because it's not that I don't want other people to see me in them but that I don't wanna see me in them.

If you take a trip to the states on our Memorial Day, Labor Day, or right after Christmas, (and some time in spring) they have 50% off on all thier clearence. (It extencds to thier website, too.)

You can get shirts for 3 dollars. Pants for 5 dollars. Etc...

It's so nice, but only if you have money to spend!

As far as I go, I wear dark red lipstick. My hair ranges from red to dark red, depending on the dye of this month. A large majority of my shirts are a: black, or b: charector shirts. I am making pants like these, since they don't have them in my size. All of my pants are dark blue jeans or black pants. My purse is covered in buttons, and patches.

Am I a poser?

I don't think so, because.. well, I honestly just wear what I LIKE to wear. I think it looks cute, and looks good on me. I buy them from torrid.com - the plus sized version of hot topic. Why? Because all of the other plus sized stores target 40 year olds, or people who want to dress like the Gap. I don't want to dress that way.

Eh. Me, I don't care what anyone thinks of my style or what other peoples' styles are. Yeah, I identify myself as goth, because, well, it's easier, actually. I can go to a goth store, find something that rather fits what I like. I look at goth music, it's usually something interesting (sidenote: Deine Lakaien makes me happy. and don't assume since I like goth music I like ALL of it; Switchblade Symphony sucks ass and I have no idea why anyone likes them). I'm actually kinda tired of having to justify what I wear to people... either to other "true" goths who tend to resent some of my non-goth behavior, or assfucks who think the taste of gothy goodness I have makes me a stereotypical angst puppet.

And yeah, I would wear that. 'Cause it looks neat .

Skater-punk is a phrase a friend of mine used to use to describe some kinds of clothes. She started using it while working as the manager of a Gadzooks (before they went all female), so I assumed that it was a term other people used.

Ok, call it a "Goth kilt" then.

But, if a cool anime character wore something like that you would too while dressing up as them? Just so long as people know that's not your personal taste in clothes?

Or do you find it so offensive that you wouldn't wear it even then?

There is this one group of people we like to call the "Hot Topic Squad" that hangs out at my school. They sit around, and all wear black, trying to be scary. When in truth, they are far from. One girl even went to as far as piercing her hand to be "goth" Monica made a really funny comment one day as I was passing by and making my chit-chat that was very funny about "Preying to the hot topic god" or something like that. This thread reminded me of that for some reason. Good ol' goths.
