Big changes in the works at SWG HQ! Too many to list all at once, so I shall post the 'cream of the crop' as it were...

First is here special for Led and JooJoo (The two I know who use Melee weapons)

quote:
Melee Out of Range issue:

This is caused by the object on your client being drawn in a different location that it exists on the server.

The proposal to fix this is to increase the melee range of all weapons to a value that is closer to the margin of error between the client/server. This will make combat look a little funny as you’ll be able to hit a target further away, but I think this is an appropriate tradeoff.

Melee Damage Output:
I believe that melee damage is too low across the board. I will be investigating move abilities and look into bringing all melee class damage up to a more appropriate level.

Other slated changes :

  • 'Combo' system - consecutive hits will cause more damage, misses will 'reset' the combo. Meaning aimshots and such will be vastly more useful.
  • New weapons : They're planning on implimenting new weapons and certs en masse.
  • New combat speeds. The way skills work now, when you get to 90+ speed mods, any weapon at all (Pistol, carbine, rifle and 1hs/2hs/pike respectively) can fire once a second. That'll eventually be changed, with pistols/1hs have a .5 second limit, rifles/pikes have 3, with carbines/2hs in the middle.
  • All HAM costs are being revised and will be changed eventually.

Fun stuff here. I personally can't wait for the combo system - with my creature +to hit bonuses for being a scout/ranger, this means added accuracy, which means higher combos vs creatures

Massive rebalances and tweeks for the combat system? Gee, if I didn't know better, I would think this was a beta...
I believe in the existance of magic, not because I have seen proof of its existance, but because I refuse to live in a world where it does not exist.

This struck me as funny -

    Development Hates Riflemen.

    We don’t hate you. "

Yeah, it's not like we didn't hear that about UO, EverQuest, Asheron's Call, Anarchy Online, DAoC, Asheron's Call 2, and Shadowbane, all of which were released 100% perfectly balanced.

It's not like EverQuest has been out for more than three years and is making gameplay balance changes even today.

That's the first thing I thought when I saw the notes.

Vorby : You're a melee user? Somehow I thought you were a blaster user

Tal : Biggest reason I never held any sympathy for riflemen is 'cuz mind shots have NEVER been able to be healed. If I spam 600pt health shots on someone, and there's a doctor next to 'em, they're in fine shape. If I spam 1000+ pt mind shots on someone... they're toasted fast

I do have a blaster char, but he's only in use while I wait for Fencers to not suck.
