No benchmark details yet. Intel have "paper launched" the chip, but haven't actually made them available for purchase yet.

Saw this yesterday. I can tell you from my experience with the Motorola G4 chip that the Level 3 Cache makes a HUGE difference in performance. My Dual 1.4 machine has 2mb per proc and It is far faster than the older versions with no cache.
Runs Quake 2 flawlessly
I'm saddened to see Intel fall back on XTREME!! marketing. A good idea cheapened by crass commercialism.

Actually, in this case the "Extreme" actually qualifies for being in the product name. The newer games out today, and the ones that will be out, take up alot of processing power.
Next summer, I'll probably end up having to get one of these. It seems the Athlons run a bit too hot where I live, in the summers.
I really liked my Athlon too. It's cheap, fast, and works beautifully.
This means a whole new motherboard, too... well, I guess that's a plus, I can get a board that supports DDR400 and 8x AGP. Of course, that also means I'll probably have to hold off on getting more RAM (I currently only have 512mb of RAM, was planning on getting 512 more around Christmas time) until I get a new board. That was back when Intel sucked.
Intel and AMD have almost completely switched positions in terms of product selling points since then.
Never the less, I'm still getting an Athlon 64 over a Pentium. [ 09-17-2003: Message edited by: Maradon! ]
(and yes, the A64 really is doing wonderfully. iirc, the 3200+ at 2.0GHz was ripping the holy hell out of the 3.2C)
No, Really. Bite me.
Honestly though, 64bit AMD is the way to go according to the benchmarks for most application reasons... maybe holding off for the duel channel memory version instead of the initial single channel, but other than that.
