So, I went today to classes.. From my extensive training and memorization I did not get lost.

I was pretty much told not to get a job cause I won't be able to handle all of the work plus have a social life.. So it's a no win situation for time and money.

A good thing though, is that in my course, we keep the same classmates all year, so that's pretty good for making friends I guess.

So, all in all it wasn't that bad of an experience, except for eating lunch alone cause I don't know anyone. I go outside for that. ^^ Sometimes random people talk to me, so that's good...It's just going to suck having to pay for my supplies with no job.

I went to school, bought a pizza, and dropped it..

It really ruined my day.

While I don't know the details of you situation, this tends to be a bad idea. Put schools first, work second and social life third. Never know what may happen down the road, and not having a income can cause lots of problems later on. Hell, art supplies alone can cost an arm and leg. Be one thing to not turn a project in on time cause you were partying, another cause you didn't have the material to do it.

That's what parents are for. My tuition is paid by my grandfather, so money really isn't an issue. But I'm paying for most of the supplies myself with the money I've saved.

What the heck are you thinking about!??

College IS social life, unless you want to spend the three most boring years of your life.

Not only that, but by socializing I also just mean relaxing so it's not JUST school and work, cause that's what it would be..

You people need to get a life.

My first day of school this year was very out of place. I hardly knew anyone, I sat all by myself at lunchtime, and with myself being shy, it does not help my social status. It is only my junior year here, and all of the cliques are formed. I'm always feeling out of place, but it is being improved. There are always people who are willing to become your friend.

For the money part, get a small part-time job that could at least give you pocket change. Having money is always a good thing. I always regret for being too lazy to get a job because I never have any money, and I hate having to mooch off of others because I'm taking money that I didn't earn. But anyways, I'm sure you'll have fun with this new experience because I know I am!

Its a good idea to have a sizable amount saved up coming out of college. You'll need it, and you can't rely on your family for money for forever. On a smaller scale than that it'll give you some pocket change that you'll no doubt need. Furthermore, the job references will be good for any internships you may take and will help you with getting a job coming out of college.

Personally, I work two part time jobs (help teach cooking classes and do catering jobs) in addition to being a full-time student. Admittedly, I get to choose my own hours for both jobs, but they're jobs nonetheless. I've never had a problem with putting away free time for relaxing or my social life. *shrugs*

Dude, I have 2k bucks saved for supplies and stuff like that when I start (13 days!) I don't really want to work if I don't have to...but I'll probably have to next year.
Grammar is your enemy! - While being able to understand someone's sentences might seem like a good idea for a proper essay, complaining on a forum scarcely leaves time for such trivialities. Write fast! You're angry, grrr! Make that show, and forget about things like capital letters, punctuation, and verbs.

Unless you watch every red cent, that two grand will be gone by June. You can already kiss $600-$1000 goodbye for your books. College is a hungry, hungry bitch. Hungry for BLOOD your money.

No college is schooling so your not busting a nut the rest of your life..Or should be..And WTF are you talking about 3 years? it's 4-5 years on average now for bachelors. You know how many kids that were in my high school class I have seen back after loosing their scholarship or being kicked out cause they thought school was social life. You put the schoolwork first, if not, why the fuck are you in college? Wasting a lot of time and money if you don't.

Note, I am not saying you don't socialize, but you do the other first. You do your work before you go partying. Other wise there won't be much partying when you get a bad grade and lose that scholarship, get kicked out, or mommy and daddy decide to stop putting themselves into dept, or worse when you find your self with a mountain of dept and nothing to show for it. I am giving advice for experience gained the hard way.

School first. Always. If you start screwing around with too much partying and slacking in academics, especially during the first year or two when its very tempting, you can cause yourself a ton of headaches both finiacally(lossing scholarships or just wasting money on a horrible semester) and educationally(getting behind in what you should know for classes and other classes they are prequistes for).

But anywho, also enjoy College. Its as fun or tedious as you make it.

Talonos: dude, have you ever SEEN the amount of work art students get? It's fricken insane. My teachers TOLD us not to get jobs if we don't *need* them.

Hello: Noo. booo boo.. Ares=blah

Kat: No worries, I'm not much of a party girl. I've barely said two words to anyone at school yet. I'm too shy. (I waste money on art stuff anyways.. )

And on another note:

I woke up at 7:30 today to get to school by 10:45...Only to have my 3 hour calss at 11 for 25minutes....Then I had to wait around for my friend to show up since we said we'd meet at two. What a waste of a day.
