They took away the helmet (motorcycle) and seatbelt laws here in El Salvador. What the hell kind of a person votes for a bill that does that? It doesn't even make any sense.

If yer stupid enough not to wear a helmet/seatbelt, then you deserve anything that may happen to you because of it.

It's their lives, let them do with it what they want. You're free to keep wearing your seatbelt and helmet.

I think it makes perfect sense.

Those laws are stupid to begin with. If a person can't see the sense in wearing a seatbelt or a helmet, let them pay the consequences by being mulch on the highway. Some of the plants here in Vegas could use it.

Before anyone starts barking about how people will start suing and shit.. the better law would be to create a law against litigious freaks that sue because they don't wear their protective gear.

So there.

No, if little children are stupid enough to drive without seatbelt, they obviously deserve to die.

Gotta have belt and helmet laws for minors. It's just not fair and not right for the stupidity of adults to cause harm to minors.

But I believe that if you're old enough to drive, then you're old enough to make that decision.

I know.. it's a shame. We really need to do something about it since they instituted the mandatory watering restrictions here. A little Karnajing on the highways would fix that!

Actully I was thinking of the fact the law keeps insurance down. But usally I think it's one of those things were if your wearing them anyways your not going to complain.

Jersey's seat belt law is that the driver and front passenger must be wearing seat belts, get a ticket for each person not wearing their belt. If the passenger is under age then the driver get two tickets, if not the passenger get his/her own ticket. I think they wanted to extend it to all people in the car.

Who knows with wherever Alek lives.

Here it's required by law for everyone in the front seats, regardless of age, and all children under 5 (or 7; can't remember), to wear seatbelts.

Same thing here, except for the back seat it's either children under 12 or under 16. Then again, this is New York. We have a reputation.

$86 dollars here if anyone in the car isn't wearing a seatbelt (if the person is an adult, they get the ticket instead of the driver). You can be pulled over for that if it's your only offense.

My boss was driving me home from work one night at like two AM(during the summer when closing! Summer hours sucked last year), and we had to drop one of the grill girls off first.

She lived in a really bad Mexican neighborhood. The cops were looking for someone and were swarming through the streets. There wasn't a street or alley that didn't have at least one cop easing down it in their car.

The seat belts in my bosses car didn't work. So we're cruising around surrounded by cops holding our seat belts down so it looks like we're wearing them hoping none of them flag us down to ask if we've seen who they're looking for.

Personal freedoms are wonderful, and all, but some dipshit's right to be stupid by not wearing a helmet or seatbelt doesn't translate into a right to demand I pay additional insurance rates or taxes to support that kind of idiotic death wish.

The question isn't whether stupid people have a right to kill themselves; the question is whether the rest of us should pay for it.

How can there even be a question? There's no reason other than stupidity not to wear a helmet or seatbelt. The laws are required to mitigate how much the government has to spend cleaning up after those too stupid to see common sense.

Being the good boy that I am, I won't even add anything to this.

I was in the Virgin Islands once. I met a girl, we ate lobster, drank piña coladas. At sunset, we made love like sea otters. That was a pretty good day. Why couldn't I get that day over, and over?

Mostly it's a matter of assisted suicides. No one prosecutes you for trying to end your life, obviously.
