So I make this thread. Five questions and answers.
Pretty much. It's like scorched earth, or worms, or one of those games. You get a tank, your enemy gets a tank (Called 'mobiles' in this game). Each tank has a gun. Adjust the angle of your shot, the power of your shot, fire your gun, and try to hit his tank. And don't complain about it being the latest fad - the last two were free (Enemy Territory and Gunbound),
First, you go to http://www.gunbound.net , pray a bit that it's up, and download the game. While it's downloading, or before or after, register for an account on the main page or you can't play.
Second, load the game and pray the login server is up. It's korean, it's beta, and it's down a lot. Once you're in the game, you pick a zone (Everyone's on Zone 1) and you're in. For most EC games, you can find out which room we're in by going into IRC. Then go to that room, put in the password, easy stuff like that.
Third, once you're in a room, you pick your tank and items. For a listing of tanks, go here : http://www.gunbound-hq.com/index.php?pg=Tanks . I'm lazy and won't type them out. For a listing of items and what they do, go here : http://www.gunbound-hq.com/index.php?pg=FAQ#T .
Lastly, you click on 'ready' to begin.
Stop being lazy and figure it out yourself! The rest of us did. But for those who just don't get it, here's a guide.
First, the easy stuff. When it's your turn, you'll see a timer in the top right. You angle your shot (With up/down keys), hold down space to build up power, let go of space to fire. Different tanks have different angles available - some (Like Boomer) have a huge firing arc, some (like Bigfoot) have a really tiny one. Try using the terrain to your advantage : if you can't fire high enough, but there's a hill next to you, try using it to angle your shots. You can move a limited distance with left/right keys.
Each tank has 3 shots. Single, double, super. They're in the bottom left corner, as '1' , '2', and 'SS'. They affect your delay - Low delay means you'll shoot sooner next round. High delay means you'll shoot later. Sometimes if a person has a VERY high delay, your enemy can even fire twice before you can fire once. Using weapon 1 always has low delay, 2 has medium, SS has highest. Same with damage, Weapon 1 usually does less, 2 does more, SS does most.
Items can be used in a bunch of different ways. Most items add to delay, meaning using them can mean huge penalties for your speed. But they can help immensely, teleporting you out of danger, letting you fire twice, hit harder, heal, or letting you fire both of your weapons (1 and 2) in a single turn. Before the match, you have 6 spaces to put items. Some items use 2 spaces, some 1. Be sure to load up on items before the match, and don't forget to replace used items before you start.
Lastly, in the top near the left, you'll see a bunch of pictures scrolling left. These are like battlefield powerup icons. different icons do different things. The black hole locks items. The electrical orb thingy makes thunder appear on the map (Shots that pass through thunder do more damage by making lightning strike where they hit). The glowy orb makes force appear on the map (shots through force do 33% more damage, period). The sattelite makes a floating orbital laser attack where your shots hit. The crescent moon makes you heal a bit that turn. The comet changes wind direction and speed. The swirly wind icon makes a tornado appear (Changes your shots angles, but shots that hit give you +50 gold).
During the game, you'll earn gold and GP. GP is basically just points that affects your ranking in the game. Higher ranks get bonuses, such as when you hit rank 'stone axe', when you have 1500 GP, you get free upgrades (Space Marine armor + helmet). For a listing of the bonuses, go here : http://www.gunbound-hq.com/index.php?pg=Ranks . Gold accumulates and can be spent on upgrades. Upgrades come in 4 flavors. Hat, shirt, glasses, accessory. Different upgrades give you different stats, and they come in these flavors :
Sword: increases your attack by 1%
Heart: increases your health by 1%
Target: increases your angle range by 1
Star: increases the gold you earn by 1%
Shield: increases your defense by 1%
Tire: increases your mobility 1%
Mountain: increases your climbing by 1%
Hourglass: decreases your delay by approximately %0.66
So a shirt like the SWAT uniform that has 3 swords, 9 shields, and 3 targets, it'll increase your attack by 3%, defence by 9%, and give you a slightly wider angle range. These stats do stack between equipment. a hat and shirt that both give 6 stars, will give you 12% gold increase.
Then stop asking them here and read the FAQ. http://www.gunbound-hq.com/index.php?pg=FAQ
It answers EVERYTHING. Almost everything I said in this post is listed there, but for some dumb reason people pass over the FAQ. The FAQ has it all. Game modes, icons, screenshots, what it does, why it does it, tanks strengths and weaknesses. Everything. Now I'm done typing. [ 08-27-2003: Message edited by: Khyron ]

According to that site, I should have double wooden hammers. But I'm still a chick? I have 1289gp.
Apparently the rankings don't update automatically, I have 1478 and I'm still a chick. I'm not sure when they update, but the numbers there are correct.
I was gettin good at the end there with the turtle and the spooge cannon. [ 08-28-2003: Message edited by: Falaanla Marr ]

GRUB FO' LIFE
Yes, grub for your life, fool. Meanwhile those of us with skill with play the REAL Mobiles
The grub can actually really, really suck for lots (most) situations, though. What really needs fixing is the fact that the projectiles will sometimes just bounce off of the map walls. No skill at all there. They also roll too far. Though they should still roll downhill, that's what really limits them. [ 08-28-2003: Message edited by: Suddar ]
Alas, I suck at hitting.

Uh, teapot? Look up at the list of tanks and tell us which one you mean

Ah, armormobile, how I love thee It doesn't have the power the boomer has, but it takes CONSIDERABLY less damage per shot
And I figured you could just go to a hardware store or department store or something and pick up a power converter
Now I know better.
Those things make great sigpics, btw. [ 08-28-2003: Message edited by: Tarquinn ]

They're so racist!
I assume you are.
It might have been worth a chuckle once, but the third time was just overkill. Moron.

Понятие "власть" неотделимо от понятия "государство". Теория государства считает, что власть является сущностью государства, то есть тем главным, что определяет содержание, цели и функции государства. И в некотором смысле между этими понятиями можно поставить знак равенства.

Warlord Darius had this to say about Tron:
Jesus Shit I've been railed two or three times today by a golden axe or higher play... on my own team. I'm not even close to the enemy, they just want to make risky ass shots. I'd think with that much play you could figure wind out if you're play boomer. High rankers suck
I have never played a game with a high rank person that made me believe they earned that rank on their own. Most of them just play boomer and either try aiming straight up in the air, firing at full power and missing everyone entirely OR .... well, no that's about all they ever do.
However, he wasn't the one shit kill type of person I expected from someone with a rank like him. [ 09-04-2003: Message edited by: Tarquinn ]
