Multiplay looks to be just as sweet as it was in the previous game. In addition to the stellar one-on-one lightsaber duels, a new Siege mode is on the way, with each player taking a different role (Jedi, demolitions expert, grenadier, and so on) to complete an objective. Thus, not everyone can play as Jedi, because even half a dozen lightsabers hacking away at a secured door won't open it without the aid of a demo man.
But what is this about?
It's not something people hear about.

Oops. Knew I left something out.
That's about Jedi Academy.

AKA : Jedi Knight 3. You don't play as Katarn this time, you're a new jedi student (Katarn ends up as a teacher). It's almost like Jedi RPG - you pick race, lightsaber type (Single, dual, staff like Darth Maul had), and combat style. You get to take optional missions but skip force powers you'd get, junk like that.
Tusken Raider jedi??

They are using the Quake 3 engine like JK2 I believe, but for mapping/terrain they are bringing over the Soldier of Fortune 2 map/terrain engine.
The game's really more of a stand-alone expansion to JK2 than a new game. The graphics haven't improved any since JK2, the new lighstabers aren't really special when taking into account various JK2 mods, and the SP campaign is relatively weak. Lightsaber fluidity and force powers are better tuned though, and you only have to use something other than your lightsaber in one mission. Overall, the game feels like its relying on the jedi gimmick and didn't take advantage of its strong points. Its and ok game, but nothing great. If HL2 makes it out on time it'll crush Jedi Academy.
Oh and to answer some questions. Mortius, you can be a tusken jedi in multiplayer, sorry. Ruv in single player you can be a human male/female, a Kel Dor male, a Rodian male, a Twi'Lek female, or a Zabrak female. It somewhat disturbed me that you have the same name despite what race/sex you play though. In MP you can choose any of the models.

I was talking about SP. I thought that was obvious.

Eh not really. There is something concerning race in the SP game that would make a SW fanboy cringe though. Won't say what to avoid huge spoilers and such.

C'mon, that's what the spoiler tag is there for! If they wanna spoil it, let 'em spoil it for themselves by highlighting the tag! [ 08-17-2003: Message edited by: Khyron ]

I won't spoil it because it involves the ending. Hah, thought I spoiled it didn't ya?
ECP, its not exactly hard to find if you want it. Just search on Emule for it. *shrugs*

What does that have to do with using the spoiler tags?
Just say it already. That's what the spoiler tags are for.
Lemme count the problems. Jan's dissapeared totally, no mention of her at all. A random person now has the ability to build and operate a perfectly working lightsaber with no Jedi training at all. You can now suck the Force out of random locations in the galaxy with a random ancient artifact, and only one of these ancient artifacts exist. A Jedi can use any of the powers of the dark side and yet never fall to the dark side. A Jedi can use only the powers of the light side and yet still be considered a Dark Jedi. A new Jedi trainee can master his powers and become a highly respected Jedi in a matter of couple weeks. The same kid can beat the crap out of Kyle Kartan without breaking a sweat. The Empire Remnant seemingly has no problem with a random dark Jedi breaking into their ship, killing the the commander, and taking over. Think I got em all.

I shouldn't have to say google is your friend. Anyways, eMule is another filesharing program. I prefer it over BT, Kazaa, etc for a couple reasons. I'd recommend trying it out.

Wait, what does any of that have to do with a problem about a certain race that has to do with the end of the game?

Could have sworn that the Empire wasn't exactly so accepting of non-human races and yet they seem to have no problem with you coming aboard and taking over.

Didn't mean an Alien couldn't become a member of the Empire. It just meant they had to work harder. Look at Thrawn!

Thrawn's an exception, just cause he's Thrawn. You don't actually work to do it. You kind of just take over. In fact, the body of the old commanding officer on the ship is about 5ft behind you in the cinematic. Doesn't seem like the Empire folks mind because there's two lesser officers just standing behind you no problem. They just accpet it and off you go. Then again, at this point you've destroyed a major cult threatening to unleash an ancient Sith lord upon the galaxy, killed most every Jedi from the Jedi Academy, beat down Kyle Katarn, and have a staff created by an ancient Sith lord that contains the Force within every major location in the SW universe that Raven could think of. Maybe they thought it'd be a bad idea to fuck with you.

Cool Hand Luke got all f'ed up on Angel Dust and wrote:
Is there two storylines if you go light or dark? Sounds almost like it. That was the coolest thing about Knights of the Old Republic.
You can, but its not done as well as in KotOR. Basically at one point very late in the story you make a choice of whether or not to kill someone. Don't kill them and you finish out the last three (or two, I forget) missions as light. Kill them and you finish out the last three missions as dark. There's some differences in those missions, but not a whole lot. Very dissapointing way of handling it IMHO. In fact, the point at which I felt the game had the most potential to really have a good storyline was at the dark side's ending. Was dissapointed it ended there. Hopefully JK3 (JK:A isn't JK3) will pick up here and not from the light side's ending, though its not bloody likely. Anyways, it doesn't matter what force powers you've taken either. You can have all dark side powers and go light. You can have all light side powers and go dark. You can mix and match powers if you so choose. All that matters in the end is one swing of the saber. This could change for the actual release, but I really doubt it will.
