First off, she says Thank You to all the people that of written her. She apologizes for not being able to write people back. Due to the lack of stamps and time, she is currently writing to mostly family, although some of you may get letters. She is averaging roughly 6 letters a day.
Secondly, as some of you already know. She has to run 1.5 miles in 14 minutes. As of the end of Training Week 2 she ran it in 17 minutes. She has to shave off 3 minutes by Week 6. She said she can already do the pushups and situps, it is just the run she has to beat now. I know she can do it.... It will be hard, but she can do it.
I'm so worried about her. I just want all of this to end.

Wow, she's writing 6 letters a DAY? I wrote 2...the whole time I was there.
If there is a place in the world you can drop 3 minutes off a run time like that, it's Basic Training. She'll be fine.
No.. she is recieving 6 a day.. she gets to write one a week.
Back in high school, I ran a mile in 6 minutes... but only went 4/5 of a mile on an 8-minute timer.

:: Take the first quarter mile, or more if she can, at a light sprint, before falling into step. Keep as much speed as possible until she feels herself getting tired. That's the point at which she should try controlling her breathing, synchronizing it with her stepping pace, to kick into her second wind. From there, she should no longer have her mind on running. Finally, she should take the last eighth of a mile at a full-on sprint. No matter how tired she is, she should be able to manage a short distance on pure will (at the cost of being spent when she breaks the run).
:: Run with long strides, and stay low to the ground. If the terrain isn't too rough, this will conserve energy.
:: When sprinting, push with both knees and ankles. This increases the stride length further. It also helps develop vertical jumping strength, which I'm sure she'll need.
I can run a mile in 8-9 minutes, and I'm hardly the pinnacle of good health. She's being pushed to her limits. She'll be fine. I'm positive about that. [ 07-23-2003: Message edited by: Suddar ]

Falaanla Marr spewed forth this undeniable truth:
You still never gave me the address so I could write her something. I dont think ya posted it in the other thread. :/
Her address was given to specific people in expectation of the pure volume she was going to be receiving from just family. She is currently shipping me letters to store because she is completely out of room there.
She can only read letters on Sundays and since she is receiving an average 6 letters a day, she cannot keep them all and pass inspections.
