What is the blue twirly thingy at the end?
I was always outdoors when I was smaller, and I remember coming across slug mating quite a few times (the yellow slugs, anyways -- not the leopard looking ones). Yeah, I stopped to watch, too. Not 'cause I'm a pervert or anything. I just find stuff like that interesting.
I couldn't tell you exactly what that blue thing is, though. I don't think that kind live around here -- at least I've never seen 'em. *shrug*

Several species of slugs are known to do that. After mating, its much easier and efficient to bite off their sexual organs and grow new ones than it is to retract them.
