But, should I wait for expansions/patches to come out instead?
And I would rather listen to the regular players. Casual players.

So, should I shell out for SWG and switch my subscription from EQ to SWG? I haven't been playing EQ all that much anyway, and SWG looks like something I'd really dig. But, should I wait for expansions/patches to come out instead?
It's strangely compelling... finding resources, and crafting them into stuff.. trying different materials (How DID I make that Hot Wired Coupler of Overcharging?).. I find myself getting sucked in...
Didja know, that if you use reactive gas in your fireworks instead of inert they work a helluva lot better?
I need to start making more clothes for myself... I don't have a hat or anything...
I'll never complain about EQ's framerate again, though... hopefully when I try it tonight, it should run faster now that I turned 2xAA off... :/
I doubt it would be very playable on this computer, but my main system would/should be fine. GeForce 4 Ti 4600 with a gig of pc2100 plays damn near anything well.

From what I've heard and seen, it's AO with a Star Wars liscense.
That's exactly how it feels right now, yes.

Well, that's about what I've been waiting to hear. Thanks.
I'll avoid it, and wait for something else.

With that being said, and the fact that it costs more than many online games to play, I will not be buying this title.

Or not.
Wonderful skill system, a totally different crafting system where the materials come from places that make sense (Skins and bones and meat from animals. Ore and such from in the ground). Much better chance at socialization than in AO.
I'll admit, I didnt like the game during beta. I hated it. But IMO it got much better.
The LAUNCH has been better than AOs -- the game doesnt crash constantly, I can play just fine for hours on end regularly.
Sniper medic? You can do eet!
Pistol weilding ranger? Doable!
Heck, you can even get melee and gun skills at the same time, so blast away at that critter and lop his head off with an axe when he gets close
Nothing you cannot do.
The idea behind this game is giving you a world to play in, like a sandbox. Not a structured vice system like EQ
And no, I aint a fangirl. I could care less if this was star wars or star trek or whatever, I just think they did an UBER job implementing all their ideas. This game has style to spare.

Yes, but what I mean is... thus far I have yet to find anything that gives it a 'star wars' feel. Walking through a great big city with towering skyscrapers reminds me of running through the omni-tek cities in AO. Perhaps I was expecting more of an imperial presence (More storm troopers around), or maybe I was expecting some of the more memorable vehicles around. Maybe it's the general atmosphere, but when I play it I just don't feel like I'm in a Star Wars game.
Don't get me wrong, I'm starting to enjoy it more and more now that I'm getting the hang of things (Combat no longer annoys me, as I've learned how it works and am getting pretty damn good at it). It just doesn't feel like a Star Wars game just yet.
Feels VERY starwarsey, not too crowded, (most) of the local folks are great

Yes! And you are not stuck doing that, either. Even after totally mastering the marksmanship trees, then picking an elite skillset off of that (like rifleman, etc), you will still have plenty of points left over to pick other skills.Sniper medic? You can do eet!

Just don't make the same mistake I made.
I went full rifle at first. Had a nice rifle, was getting good at using it. Problem is, creatures close in on you FAST (Like mobs in EQ). And then you get mopped up by the mobs. Problem with this is that when using a rifle (Or carbine) You suffer a melee penalty. Melee weapons do 200% damage to you if you have a rifle out, and 150% damage to you if you have a carbine out.
So what I did was used a rifle for the first couple shots, when the enemy closes in switch to melee. With my rifle out I was being hit for 140+ damage. With a dagger out I was being hit for 30-60 damage.
What I meant to say:
It sounds like Anarchy Online's system. However, I am AO's largest fan. And I am also a large fan of the SW universe.
And I have money and time to burn.
SW:G it is. [ 07-01-2003: Message edited by: Leopold, the Voice of Reason ]

Careful with the harvesters. They're bugged and like to disappear, or not allow you to collect resources from them, et cetera.
One guy put down a harvester, gave it 4 days worth of power and maintenance costs, the whole deal cost him 15k creds... and it vanished within 2 hours.

I'll try SWG in a couple of months and I hope by then I have a computer capable of running the game. I also hope they've found and ironed out all the big wrinkles in the game that I'm not aware of at the moment. I also want to know how good their customer service is. When I first got into AO I was constantly disconnected. I got in touch with CS through email and they responed promptly and quickly, and after exchanging several emails the problem was fixed

Note to self : Buy this game and talk to Khyron about making driods.
I think I'll switch off of EQ in a couple more months. My guild is hopeless really, and even as an officer there's not much to do.

I'm just poking fun at Kenn. He used to come in here and talk about how his engineer's bot solo's everything for him in AO
