Before, the drive wouldnt bother me so bad knowing that shortly she would be filling the seat again but now... now is just different.
Already said what I needed to say when you were here, so I feel for ya. Gonna miss her. [ 06-24-2003: Message edited by: Faelynn LeAndris ]

It's gonna bug you, so you can channel the energy into productive things while keeping your mind off of it.

Work..lots of work. Throw yourself into work. Overtime, those projects around the house, yard work, whatever it takes. It's gonna bug you, so you can channel the energy into productive things while keeping your mind off of it.
Already planning to do this. Over the last month I have been making a list of development projects and specing them out with unreasonable time lines to keep myself busy. I have roughly 6 months worth of stuff ATM, I'm sure the other 3 will come as I go, seeing as I tend to creep my own scopes.
Then you start thinking, "This isn't so bad. I'm getting used to it." Then it hurts again because you have though about it. Then you learn quickly not to do that.
By the thrid month or so you hit your stride. Most days are fine. Quite a few are good. Only time it hits you bad is the dreams. Especially the vivid ones. You wake up thinking it was real, and then realize it was just a dream. That moment, will feel just like your drive back. This also happens now and again from some scent, sound, or visual that will spark an intense memory of her.
It sucks, Peso, but it does have a blessing in the curse. Also reminds you how much you love her. You'll feel that intense warm feeling just rush over you thinking about her. You get used to the routine of her not being there. The mental jolt reminds you of the feelings in the open raw way.
The letters and phone calls are going to be the highlite. When you know one is coming your entire week/day will revolve around it. Be like a kid at Christmas. Or a teenage boy who has seen his first real breast. That much anticipation and excitement. The surprise calls...they just blow you away. Can't describe it. Depending on how long her school is and how from home it is, there's always leave over the holidays. And if you can swing it time and money wise, you could always go watch her graduate. [ 06-24-2003: Message edited by: Callalron ]

Unless my current employer wants to be really nice and let me have the days paid and gives me the money to go, visiting her at graduation isnt going to happen. I'm going to be saving all the money I can for when it is time for me to move. It is going to be rough for a bit, but we will make it.
What holidays give leave and how much?

I'm not sure about this, but I think Christmas for one gives about 5 days.

Figure maybe 4 days at Thanksgiving. A week or so around Christmas/New Year's. If her school is really long, they might (repeat MIGHT) give the class an opportunity for a week's leave in the middle. I know when I went to language school they did that for us.
And she'll have to take leave based on how much she's accrued. Standard is 2.5 days earned per month (30 days per year) You can carry a negative leave balance, but it's not recommended.
Can she have a computer at Tech School? And if so, do they provide/allow internet access? She is training as a AV/TEP so it isnt like it is nukes or anything super top secret.
Speaking of Nukes, I was suprised to learn that in WWII, welding techniques were actually classified by the military.
Not sure how the Navy does things, but after a certain amount of time she should have access to a computer, possibly even have one in her room. I know in the Air Force they had various stages of tech school where the students were given progressively more freedom, so computer access isn't out of the question.

Is the pie also evil? Cuz that would cheer me up.
Unfourtunitly, I've never had a girlfriend, but I do have an idea of what your feeling. Must suck major ass.
/me gives you an evil pie.
EDIT: They will most likely allow her to have a cell phone...
I'm not trying to bitch about the navy, but that is how the navy runs its show. Personally, for familiy purposes, she'd be better off in the Air Force. =\ [ 06-25-2003: Message edited by: Ninok ]

I have a family cell phone plan, meaning I own 2 phones that share minutes. Do you think they would freak out if I sent her the second one? Would save us money on phone bills.
Once she's in tech school, the phone may be ok. Have her find out when she gets there and let you know. Obviously there's gonna be some places she can't take the phone, but other than that, it should be a good way for you guys to keep in touch.
