If this is true, then why do we fear it?
The action was nice... but for some reason, didn't really excite me. Maybe I've just grown dull to sensational explosions and slow motion since the matrix.
I actually kinda liked the mind the film had. I thought the story was decent. Not oscar-written, but enough to keep me involved.
BUT IT FREAKING DRAGGED ON.
After the miltary explosions and the military warfare, when slow speaking chick hugged Bruce, IT SHOULD HAVE ENDED THERE. That last part with him fighting his father was just retarded and it was boring then.
Actually, two more things:
First, the split screen kinda sucked. It was interesting for a bit, but then it felt like he was just using it to...use it. Like split screen SHOWING THE EXACT SAME AREA. That was silly.
Also, I refuse to give it any credibility since, you know, they wore no protective clothing AROUND DEADLY RADIATION. Wtf, man. [ 06-22-2003: Message edited by: Lenlalron Flameblaster ]
However, I think it did follow the storyline close enough. Most movies now-a-days seem to stray from the origional plot. The action scenes could of been much better, but they did an all around good job using only computer animation for it.

Gomateux had this to say about Tron:
I thought the split screen thing was sort of neat. It really captured the feeling of reading a comic book. Because as you all know, comic books often take multiple angles of the same scene on the one page, and thats just what the movie was doing.
It's a movie based on a comic book, not a movie trying to be a comic book.

Doesn't make it any less interesting.

Seems like it's just one of those movies that you have to chance your 8 bucks on.

Just what storyline are you talking about here? The one in the comics is VERY different from the one the movie used.
IT TOOK 35 FUCKING MINUTES TO GET TO HULK. I mean Jesus, anything Hulk-oriented is about smashing stuff, not staring at Jennifer Connelly's blank expression. It seemed like the movie almost had a structure, too, until about half an hour from the end, then nothing made sense, AT ALL. The ending kinda reminded me of Akira, but lacking of anything having to do with art, or for that matter, enjoyment.

Slow to start (but the plot had to go somewhere) and the ending needs work. But seeing the big green guy go postal is well worth it. They needed more of that.

I don't care what everyone thinks about the split screen. I thought it was interesting. Anyway, the first thing that came to mind was the movie "Andromeda Strain". That movie also uses the split screen, and it's the only movie I know that uses it.
It was like 24, only annoying.

quote:I went to see the movie with Hireko and her father. Every five minutes, this kid in the row behind us asked, "Is this where he turns into the Hulk?" Each time he asked he got louder. The sixth time was when Bruce was in the hospital bed, and he lashed out at his father (I think). This time kid asked loud enough that our whole section of the audience heard it.

The general laughter from the crowd at that moment was priceless.
The child was about three years old.
And I loved all the Hulk scenes -- I was laughing and saying "that rocks" much more than in any other superhero movie for a while.
It was not a pure action movie -- it had story, and I appreciated that.

In my opinion the split screen and other creative transitions were one of the merits of the movie. It was creative and interesting as for as I'm concernded.

Aside from that, I hated the split screen.
Effects were nice, and I was sorry to see Jennifer Connelly looking so... thin. She looked anorexic to me. She's a very beautiful woman, but she's just so skinny.

I really enjoyed the movie. I agree with Fennar (or whatever his new name is hehe) about the split screen. I thought it was really well done and thought out. I kept finding myself saying "WHOA!" because the action was so cool. I did think a few times that the movie dragged on, but overall I was pleased.
For the record, I am/was Fennar, and I havent seen the movie yet
