Our first trip down the aisle lasted a little over 2 years. We got married when we were twenty and just graduated from college. We were both to young and not willing to put in effort. We both wanted seperate things in our lives, and were unwilling to make the sacrifices for one another. So after two years we filed for divorce.
That was eight years ago. In that time she has remained my best friend and a very important part of my life. We have always been there for one another through the good times and the bad. We've both grown up and accomplished most of our individual goals. The ones that were so important back then, the ones we couldn't let go of for each other.
In that time there have been other women in my life, even some serious relationships. One I almost married. That ended in a nightmare. The one Deth and Lyinar helped me through in what ways they could. In the time since then, my ex-wife was there as well. My friend and first love since 8th grade. My one true constant through all the years of growing up.
The last several months we have grown closer, perhaps even closer than we have ever been. I've always loved her; even when I was with other people...she was in the back of my mind.
Last night I popped the question. She said, "Yes!" So this August 21, our original wedding day, we are going to take new vows to one another. Older and wiser, realizing we still are in love, able to do for one another that which we couldn't then. [ 06-16-2003: Message edited by: Old_Hickory ]
