Tonight I've been working on Zhou Yu's 10th level weapon in Dynasty Warriors 4. After the last five that I've earned, I was expecting yet another cakewalk (who thought it would be "hard" for Lu Bu to kill every enemy on a map? Just thinking about that stage makes me feel all warm and tingly). What I got instead was the hardest, and I use this word generously, challenge since the thrice-damned Nanman campaign.

I finally got the damned thing after an hour of resets, split-second saves, and oh-so-much cussing (think about every Counterstrike LAN party you've ever been to and you'll have a good idea of what it sounds like). Honestly, I'm scared to try for Zhou Tai's. Nanman on Hard? I better soundproof my room first.

Anyway, it made me wonder if anyone else has stories of controller-spiking, swear-flinging frustrations in their game play. I have some humdingers of my own (this one doesn't count; it just made me think about 'em), but I'll spare you the gory details god damn Gretchin can not shoot down a THUNDERHAWK FUCKING GUNSHIP ROUIGBOIUB11!!!

Share and share alike!

Once more into the breach, my friends, once more. We'll close the wall with our dead. In peace, nothing so becomes a man as modesty and humility, but when the blast of war blows in our ears, then imitate the action of the tiger, summon up the blood, disguise fair nature with rage and lend the eye a terrible aspect.

I rented GGXX, was having great fun.

Eventually got myself trained in Sol Badguy well enough to own most difficult computer opponents, and started doing the arcade mode.

Well, the final boss is pretty hard. She regenerates a tad, which in and of itself isn't so bad..

But every so often, she'll go invincible, jump back, then fire off an attack that 1/5 times is COMPLETELY FUCKING UNBLOCKABLE (even with the flawless defense) and takes 90% of your health away when it hits.

..

I managed to kill her once.

After an hour.

Then I realized I had to beat her again to win the match.

Actually, once you learn the Pattern, Boss I-No is a cinch. Just so long as you avoid her regular super moves, the Ball-attacks are simple to dodge with the warning they give. There's only three different versions, and there's a safe spot for each of the attacks. The only thing you gotta bear in mind is that you can't jump over her to dodge, or you'll get automatically nailed by the balls.

And as for my Controller-spiking gaming moment... That's simple. Devil May Cry, Dante Must Die mode Nelo Angelo three. My god, that was a brutal fight... Even Nightmare wasn't three wasn't that bad.

The first two (The wave and the curve up) are easily dodgable. BUT WHERE THE HELL IS THE SAFE SPOT FOR THE THIRD? Hitting her doesn't change the pattern, standing behind her just gets you hit..

So wtf.

I played the demo of DW4.

If it weren't for the time limits, I'd be prone to buying it.

The sine wave is you know, the upward curve you know, so that just leaves the burst.

In order to dodge that, you run right up to her, and when the warning lights of the attack start to fade out, you just double jump straight up. It'll miss you every time. Don't jump forward, just up.

Lets see, the third boss in Shinobi pissed me off pretty good. That game was so impossibly hard.

All the goddamned "minigame" things in FFVII. Like the motorcycling, snowboarding, sneak past the guards, jump on the @##$%#^$% pipe, chocobo racing, the stupid parade, etc.

God only knows why I'm playing it AGAIN and putting myself through it all. Although I actually did well on the escape from Shinra and the cycling game this time.

In FF6, I was stuck for WEEKS because I couldn't do Sabin's blitz to advance.

Turns out I was being a tard and doubletapping X, and that was why I could never do the fucking blitz.

The first time I went through the gmae, I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get past Locke's storyline. (Where you have to steal the clothes.) I bought a dickload of potions, used he blackbelt you got from Sabin's campaign, and just counterattacked the magitech armors for days, before I tried stealing from the merchants.
