OtakuPenguin attempted to be funny by writing:
Why do so many people that grew up in the 80s love it so much though?
Remember that speech at the end? For alot of people growing up in the 80s, that was very true. The characters in that movie fit into the 80s almost perfectly, and everybody could see themselves in them.
That, and the Pixie Stick sandwich. Love those.

The logic train ran off the tracks when OtakuPenguin said:
Well hell, techincally I grew up in the 80s too
Being, like, 4 in 1990 doesn't count, I don't think.
Oi and vey...
I was also was six when Cobain died.

71 here, so I really do remember the 80s.

Falaanla Marr had this to say about Knight Rider:

The Breakfast Club is a rare memory of the 80s that people want to keep.
If you'd like to find out why most people want to forget the 80s, though, go watch Teen Wolf.
Everybody was suuurfiiin'... surfin' USA!

I miss ALF.
Breakfast Club was one of those movies that captures the attitudes and experience of a generation, so it spoke to a lot of people.
The '80s were awesome. How could anyone who lived them not love it?

That is all.

The '80s was all about having fun--a capitalist revival of '60s attitudes, if you will.

Everyone wondered WTF when Bloodsage wrote:
Grunge was interesting for about a week. But how much pointless angsty self-loathing can one take, after all?
Lots. Pearl Jam is love.

Am I the only one who thought Ally Sheedy looked better before the makeover?

Am I the only one who thought Ally Sheedy looked better before the makeover?
I tend to agree, but in high school I was also the girl who wore about 15lbs of eyeliner, and had her hair in her face all the time.

Yeah, I thought she was cute from the get go, I kinda liked the way her hair hung down and such.

SLIMED!
Also, to find the good music of the '80s, you have to look underground. There were the Pixies, Husker Du, Black Flag, the Smiths, and a hundred little bands that took punk rock and turned it into something completely new.

7 in 1990 + 4 years = 11 in 1994
Richland is 5 years in the past
11 - 5 = 6 yrs old in 1994

A backwater town in Washington, I think. And probably because it gets everything "late" because it's so stupid! Or something.
