It should in the beginning, but after a while you'll develop a tolerance to it and the feeling should go away. It's like Vicoden, only stronger. I've been on Vicoden for my carpal tunnel for almost a year now, shrug.

Take it in moderation and you'll be ok. And if you still have to take it for the pain after a week/week and a half, you need to stop and go see a doctor. I've seen alot of people who got addicted to codiene/hydrocodone while getting minor surgery done when I worked at the pharmacy. Its a pitiful sight. Don't let it happen to ya
