Generally, when the earth's mean tempurature rises 5-7 degrees over a few hundred years (When it would take a couple thousand to do the same naturally), it really screws with global weather patterns, such as the jet stream, and all that jazz.
While it may not be a direct affect, it is the root cause in the end.
