Running a small, aluminium, god at -45 degrees celcius. All day, every day, overclocked past 4GHz.
This is my dream. This is my vision. It will be mine.

Eh, not really.
I'll call you in 25 years when I finally get it, but we all must have at least one dream, lest we lose our lust for life.
This is mine. Verily, for I am a nerd.

I will sell my firstborn for a system like that.

Question though, why only 1 gig of RAM?
I don't need any more, and DDR400 has a tantrum when you fit more than two modules.

Arent there 1 gig modules?
And who cares if you NEED DVD-Rs. Get one anyway!

I've never seen OCZ or Corsair sell them, and those are the only two DDR companies I trust to deliver what they promise.

Okay!
Seriously though...that is a sweet, sweet piece of machinery.

Check out the big brain on Tatsukaze!
That motherboard, it is not good enough.
...too bad it's not out yet.
Which is why it wasn't included in a system I could buy right now, if I had the money.
I've known about the Canterwood for a while.
For now, Im happy with my A7N8X Deluxe
On a side note, I would kill many furry creatures for that piece of machinery.

Barton core? Sadly, no.
Hammer core? Yes.

Yuri stopped staring at Deedlit long enough to write:
AMD IS BETTAR!!!!
I used to think that.
T'was only because Intel was pricier, and was so memory-hungry, that AMD won out over the past years. But now that they support dual DDR like the AthlonXP boards do, the P4 is gobbling as much memory bandwidth as it wants.
The thermal throttle is great, too.
All we're waiting on is Longhorn for 64 bit OS support. Fucking microsoft.
Just think of it: 4 GHz & 1000 MHz FSB...

Tatsukaze spewed forth this undeniable truth:
3.20 GHz + 800 MHz FSB + Canterwood + Prometia = 4 GHz (or possibly higher).Just think of it: 4 GHz & 1000 MHz FSB...
I wouldn't notice the difference, because no applications need more than 2Ghz to function optimally!
You'd only notice the difference in benchmarks. Woo-fuckin-hoo.

I've been avoiding knowing anything about new technology, as it only makes me be all like "MUST GET MONEY SPEND ON COMPUTER NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW", which really sucks since I can't hold a job during the school year...
yeah...
Last time I read a tech article that wasn't directly linked to me was when 2.4Ghz Intel CPUs were LEET.

Dude, you're harshing my gig.
I should say now that I totally hate that crap, it is the poser bitch abercrombie of the computing industry
Anyways, Maradon, what AMD chips have hammer cores? I am in the process of getting a 2800+ Barton core chip...

At least you didn't add a plexi on the side neon lights inside "I wanna show off" case in the package.
Why not?
It's just like anything else in life. If you have it, you show it off. You don't shove it in the corner and hope no one looks at it.
If you're talking about the full plexi cases (the see-through ones), I can understand. They offer zero EMI protection, which can interfere with other equipment and is a health hazard to the user.
also, you might look into a 9800pro (yes, you CAN get them)
No, Really. Bite me.

Everyone wondered WTF when Peter wrote:
How do you deal with condesation problems in that 'puter if it's being cooled to -45C?
well, the only thing getting cooled to -45 is the processor, and that is insulated about a dozed different ways... They use dielectric grease in the ZIF socket to prefent any air from ggetting in, they use a heating pad and insulation pad on the back to keep condensation off that, and several insulating layers around the atomizer.
No, Really. Bite me.

Shit that whole thing Just to Cool the chip only? I hope electrity is cheap in the UK.
side note: -42c and -42f are the same temperature. FREAKY EH!? [ 03-19-2003: Message edited by: Maradon XP ]

So what benefits are there to running your CPU at -45c as opposed to, say, slightly above room temperature?side note: -42c and -42f are the same temperature. FREAKY EH!?
running the CPU at -45 will let you achieve a stable, massive overclock. A 3.06 could reach ~4.2 - 4.3 GHZ on a prometia system.
No, Really. Bite me.

Either that, or it just doesn't appeal to you like it does others.

should have included a nice eheim pump, some swiftech waterblocks for the GPU and NB, and then wither a couple pelts for under the waterblocks, or a chiller system for the res.also, you might look into a 9800pro (yes, you CAN get them)
Interesting..
I could easily use the internal hard drive bays (which won't be used, as the hard drives are going in the larger bays and held inside coolers) for the reservoir/pump/water-cooler, and bore a 120mm hole through for it at the front of the case, slapping a nice aluminium mesh filter over the front to protect it from dust.
This particular Lian-Li case, as stated by several reviews I've look at, is a modder's dream.

On second thoughts, all I need to do is snap the two smaller bay bezels out. Either that or:

Athlon64 chips, which haven't been released yet on the grounds that AMD wants to wait until there is a commercially available 64-Bit OS (longhorn) before releasing it.
September is the latest release date whether longhorn is out or not.
