Now I know a lot of us disagree on Home built Vs, custom configured machines. However I can say I am pretty happy with Dell right now. Two weeks ago I started having some issues with my computer. The Secondary IDE controller was acting up at times.

So I called that night and after about 10 minutes on the phone they issued a replacement board. I got the new board that friday and it worked fine till last thursday when BOTH IDE controllers started acting up on this one.

Ok now I am a little pissed. Two bad boards? Hmmm.. So I call again and we check a few other things. Disconnect my DVDRW that was not from Dell just to make sure it wasn't causing problems, etc. Well they decide to just replace the whole system. Very nice in my opinion.

So I check the status online today and it says the new computer shipped yesterday via FedEx Next day service. A call to my house confirms that there is Dell computer Box sitting in my living room waiting for me to open up.

On top of that the CSR worked it out where I can keep the RAM and HD out of my current system for $200.00 Pretty good considering it is 512MB of 1066 RDRAM and a 120GB Western Digital Hard drive with the 8meg Cache. She said they are just going to write them off as damaged.

Tech support kind of pisses me off with Dell now adays since they outsource some of it to India. However I sure can't complain about thier Customer service.

Sw33t action. Red Octane and Capcom customer support sucks... I eventually gave up with Capcom and asked the fone lady if she would make love with me and my sister.

That's a nice customer service team they have there. I still prefer home, though. I know exactly what I put into that system that way, and so long as I deal with warranted parts (which I'm careful to do), I don't usually have a problem.

Plus I have a much better understanding of the whole process doing it myself. It really is an education.
