Lyinar and I just watched this...Okay I see where elements of it have cropped up (riding the nuke in), and Strangelove himself was mildly amusing.

However, I've heard people referencing this film as an all-time great "Dark Comedy". Seemed more Dark than Comedy to me. In fact the only comedy I really saw was a sort of socio-political, very unfunny sort of satire.

I, in fact, find myself wondering if I missed the joke, or if this was one of those things folks alive in the 60's say "I guess you had to be there" about today.

I loved that movie. My history teacher showed it to us.

I thought it was a good movie. Just not the dark comedy that it's reputed as. I thought Wag the Dog was more politically comedic.

Peter Sellers is in that movie!

PETER SELLERS!

Watching him in a movie is like staring into the face of God, and having him smile back!

You should see Throw Momma From the Train. I don't know why, but I find it incredibly funny.

Strangelove in general, Peter Sellers' Colonel Mandrake, and the first call to the Kremlin from the President were the only funny things (IOW Peter Sellers in general was amusing).

But I dunno...it was a dark story with a few amusing elements. I don't know that I'd call it a comedy.

It was trying to show the downfall of the world's thinking at the time about wars by going to outrageous extremes with it where the funny is ^.^

Especially Dr. Strangelove who seems to get turned on by the thought of the destruction of the human race.

That was one of the few scenes that made me laugh. And Dr Strangelove was weird, but I the funny was not there.
