Last night, my niece Kaylee, was playing Halo with one of her friends that was over. When her friend left, I started playing with her.
We played the normal story, but with two people. I thought that was really cool. I've always wanted to play a game like that where you could have a REAL person going through the actual game with you, not just multiplayer deathmatches.
I hate the controls, though. I'm used to using L and R buttons for strafing. It would have been a bit better if the control stick you used to move forward and back, wasn't the strafing stick, too. I wanted it so that the left stick moved me forward and back, and turned left and right. And then the right stick to look up and down and strafe.
I dealt with it though and got the hang of the controls after a while, and had fun.
The vehicle controls absolutely SUCK, too, except for the Ghost.
I don't really see Halo as a game that I would play religiously or something by myself, but it's fun in co-op multiplayer. [ 01-12-2003: Message edited by: Densetsu ]
Movements all on one stick, looking on another stick.

Doing it that way would complicate things, imo.Movements all on one stick, looking on another stick.
Also, having to use a stick to look up and down AND left and right means that you can completely screw up your aim when trying to just turn to the side.
Plus, it's hard to try to bash enemies with the end of your gun when they get to the side of you since you use the same thumb to turn left and right that you do to press the B button.
Couldn't find the start button?

I'd assume that they would have the control scheme you like, Dens.. Like, programmed into it.Couldn't find the start button?
I could find the Start button jsut fine. There were no in-game options to change the controls, and I just took over a game in progress, so I didn't bother with making her reset it so that I could change my controls.
Wussy wuss wusser wuss!
Works fine for me.
And the buggy controls are awkward at first, but really once you're used to them, I think they're the best vehicle controls I've used. It's a hundred times easier to know exactly what direction you'll point in.

My control scheme has me turning left and right and moving with one stick, strafing and looking up and down with the other.Works fine for me.

You are both freaks.
If you ask me, though, the cube and Xbox controllers tie for FPS titles as far as control goes.
I'd love to see a Silent Scope type game that uses the pressure sensitive abilities of the cube or Xbox controllers to add another sense of realism to the game.. Like if you squeeze uberhard, really fast, your aim will be off more then if you gently squeeze quickly..
But eh..
And I have had very few problems aiming quickly.
L, R - strafe left and right respectively.
Left stick - move forward, back, turn left and right.
Left stick BUTTON - switch weapons with those on the ground, enter vehicles, open doors (functions of the X button)
Right stick - look up and down, left and right
Right stick BUTTON - center view
A - fire
X - bash
B - switch weapon
Y - grenade

Coop really died out with Quake 2. Which was best played through the story Coop.
Serious Sam
Halo uses the "wasd" type controls, which I don't use, so I didn't like the controls in the beginning, but I like them now.
