See, when I talk 1 on 1 with a girl, I'm fine, I become a nice guy, make small talk, flirt a little, and I'm actually somewhat charming. It's scary.

However, once I get around my friends I turn into a complete and utter asshole. I treat women as objects, I make really bad pick up lined, and pretty much everything possible to make myself look like a jerk and make her uncomfortable.

WHY??? OH GOD WHY???

Please help me change, I need a chance with women, and I know that I can be a great guy, I just need t find a way to be him while I'm with my friends.

HELP!!!

Bite me.

No, Really. Bite me.

Ummm...because you're a dumbass? Nobody is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to be that way. You're choosing it.

So stop choosing it, and your problems with it will cease.

You know what you need to do, and what you need to stop doing. You just need to make yourself do it.

Sorry, but that's the best answer I can give.

I believe in the existance of magic, not because I have seen proof of its existance, but because I refuse to live in a world where it does not exist.

Also remember that you should treat ever situation as if it was one on one because communication really is one on one. Don't speak to an audiance, speak to a person. That person has a face and feelings, remember this and you'll be better. Also remember that your friends are just noise. Show off that you can get someone with out being "mean" and they might get the hint.

It's because you're male.

Seriously, even I've had problems with that, but I've chosen to be the better man about it and, kinda, control myself.

Yes, you did make yourself an asshole. Even if you want to stop, it's probably a habit by now. Many people are going to say "Just stop", but it'll be hard. Concentrate on your better side around your friends. Be strong. Etc. But if you don't try, you'll continue to be an asshole, and people won't respond well around you.

Why not just dump those friends?

Or at least divert your attention, or talk privately with the girl

Nobody MAKES you an asshole.

Stop blaming them for your own inadequacies.

I disagree. Are your friends also doing relatively the same thing? Are you doing it because it is expected of you?

It's partially you, and it's partially an unconscious response to peer pressure. If your friends are bad influences upon you, you need to address this. However, you still need to try harder to be nicer.

But you have to fight it on two fronts.

Grammar is your enemy! - While being able to understand someone's sentences might seem like a good idea for a proper essay, complaining on a forum scarcely leaves time for such trivialities. Write fast! You're angry, grrr! Make that show, and forget about things like capital letters, punctuation, and verbs.
